The thing to remember, though, is that it's not a blast or anything like that. So take a unit of TH/SS termies
BT gets 8 attacks, 6 hits, 5 wounds, 1 of which is the 6. The key thing to remember is that that 6 on the destroyer table doesn't bleed over. Yeah, 1 terminator is gone from the game. But that's it. The whole rest of the squad still gets their invuln saves, and should only fail 2. 3 terminators dead on the charge vs a str d thirster? Not really the end of the world now, is it?

How many points are those terminators again.... 225 points, the BT will kill them next turn(wounded) and have only killed 50 less points than it's worth and acted as a fire magnet.

Yeah, I was shocked it took until the third page for someone to point out the irony of a Necron player complaining how hard it was kill something.

I pointed it out within 20 minutes of the OP, and got told off for being sarcastic by the poor exploited Necron player.

My apologies then, and I would also add, well played, good sir, for being the first to recognize the delicious irony of this thread.

Vaktathi wrote:Isn't the BT a FMC? As such, he's largely invulnerable turn 1 unless you've got some serious AA to force a whole bunch of saves or get particularly lucky (entirely possible, but unlikely), you'll really only have one round to engage him before he gets stuck into something.
As a single model unit, he can only ever engage a unit at a time. If you fly him turn one, he can kill at most 4 units on his terms in a 7 turn game. If you don't fly him, unless you have cover and probably FNP, most 7th ed armies can delete him turn one, or turn two before he gets to charge if you're going second and the opponent is not stupid.
If he does have buffs, then you kill the supporting units, and don't let him get into your russ squadron unless it still causes you to win...maelstrom pretty much means one scary unit isn't that appalling. Especially if it needs to do so in close combat, and has no ranged ability at all.
He's the embodiment of khornes wrath. A whole freaking God.

Necron should be able to take him down or at least win the game. I suspect the Blood Thirster does not explode like the Knights do, so you taking him down will not be worse than letting him run about.
And yes, Necron can take a hit now, but unless it's a maxed wraith army, Necron are still better now than the previous flying circus.
And i kind of like what i read in regard to the Blood Thirster.
Might consider fielding one with a cultist army...

Still doesn't compare to a Grey Knight player complaining that Daemons can actively compete against them now, instead of being auto-tabled like we were in 5th & early 6th.

Only aut tabled if you took one underwhelming list. Difficult to land against a standard list? Absolutely. Not auto however.

So GW gave str D to the least usable greater daemon?
Good for him, BT's needed something to make them comparable to GUO and Lords of change.
Regardless as to whether it was the best option available, I believe it is the step in the right direction.
I also have no problem with str D on a melee powerhouse like a BT (at least in the fluff).
When GW starts filling up the game with spammable ranged str D weapons is when I will hve a problem with them.

The Boomstick LoC w/2x Greater Gifts & Divination is still likely to grind down the new 'Thirster, unless he's lucky enough to get a chance to swing, AND, can roll a 6 to bypass the LoC's defenses. (outright mandatory if that b******* is casting precog on himself!)
