Please answer poll. And after answering, put what the set was called in this thread. For me, it was Sheild of Baal Deathstorm

That sweet, sweet Tyranid bundle. Bought it on impulse one day when I wanted to finally start my Tyranids.

I bought an ork megaforce a while back. Dunno where that falls on the list, cause its certainly bigger than an army box

I bought the Realm of Battle gameboard. 30 pounds of plastic. Also painted and flocked it. Now I barely ever use it because it's a pain to put together, and instead I use that flocked battlemat that GW was selling for a while.

As for miniatures, I bought an Ork Megaforce once.

Biggest set from gw would have been the Battle for Skull Pass set, perfect way to start warhammer. I try very hard not to spend pover $100 (or even $50) so as tempting as those web bundles are, it would take a lot to make me buy one

I bought that Apocalypse three Basilisk box. I think it was actually slightly cheaper than buying the models individually.

I bought an ork battleforce once so many years ago, back when you actually got a deal with the contents in a box.

Army bundle, I suppose. It was the Cadian Defence Force box, IMO the best army bundle I've seen from GW. Not a single useless unit in that box.

The old Space Wolves company box from 2nd edition that had pretty much everything from their range in it.

I got the Dark Vengeance set, mostly because it came with the small paperback rule book and the hardback version of the rules was only about £10 cheaper than the set and I wanted some bonus models.

Battle for Macragge or Dark Vengeance would be my biggest sets.

I found the Imperial Pilot under my bed a few months back and he's been snug with my Space Marines from DV. Much preferred BfM to DV simply because of the terrain.

I do really like the Helbrute that came with DV and I've wanted a Dreadnought since I've first started, so it was a lovely compromise.

Largest box was the SM strikeforce when the last codex dropped. Good value, and a nice ~1,250 point army in one box.

I bought a $300+ bundle of Dark Eldar when I started the army. However, due to discounts and gift cards, I only paid ~$50 out of pocket for it.

The 2010 (I think, may have been 2011) Space Marine Megaforce, which as far as I know was the best value SM set of all their various bundles over the last few years. About £140, and had:

20 Tacticals
Scouts
LSS
Command Squad
Captain
Drop Pod
Vendread
Land Raider

Close seconds would be the AoBR and DV starters, and for non-40k, Mantic's pre-release Deadzone mega-bundle.

Hmm, counting Forgeworld, it would be my Legion Glaive. Otherwise one of the big scenery kits like the Aquila Strongpoint or the Imperial Sector (Baneblades were cheaper when I got mine). No point with web bundles, as it's cheaper to buy the same stuff at a discount from a FLGS or online retailer.

I do wish I had gone big on the old Apocalypse boxed sets way back in the day. All I did at the time was get the triple Basilisk box.

For me, the most expensive set would be a tie between my Dark Angels Ravenwing Battleforce box and my Tau Empire Battleforce box. As far as model count, it would be Dark Vengeance.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Dark Vengeance and Shield of Baal: Deathstorm.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Nothing too expensive. Probably the 2nd ed starter boxed set, once you factor in that this cost £40 around 20years ago, so that'll be around £70 today

Marauder Destroyer. And then I immediately realized that I didn't have the painting talent to justify a $300 model, so it's been sitting in the box for a few years.
