I'll keep playing 8th if I don't like 9th.

If that isn't an option, then I'll just put the WHFB away. I only have one army, and it wasn't an expensive one to assemble - so it will just go into exile in the shed of shame.

It was always my "other game", anyway. I already play infinity as the main one - and I'll just look for another game to go alongside it (I've always had TWO games on the go - not every club plays one, so that's what the alternate one is for.).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I've been moving away from 40k and over to Infinity and WMH (less work, more fun), if I drop WHFB it'll be more time on those two.

I replaced WFB with KoW, and I regularly play X-wing, and of course always the almighty BLOOD BOWL.

Hard to say. I play multiple games already (40k, Infinity, recently I added Firestorm Armada), but the reason that I have multiple games is to satisfy different gaming itches. I really like long lines of fantasy infantry, so I'm waiting to see how 9th treats that idea. If it is a bust, and becomes some sort of skirmish heroes effort, then likely I'll leave it until such a time as another regimental wargame takes off in my area; I'm not inclined to be a game-launcher myself, so I'll see what people who are inclined to be that person do.

Mainly, I'll continue to run D&D games, and just amuse myself by throwing a truly obcene number of skeletons at my players

Word to that.

I'll be playing WHFB 8E, Infinity and am thinking seriously about starting Malifaux, as well as drumming up interest in another round of Mordheim. It might be cool to play some video games too? I've been finishing up Fantasy armies for the summer tournament season, which leaves little time for gaming of any kind

As for actually playing 9E, I suppose I'd give it a shot, but apparently I'd need to make a new army to do it ... That or proxy my long-neglected CSM in

As some have already mentioned, I'll probably just stick with 8th if 9th is horrible. Plus, I already play 40K and I have a fledgling Capitol army for Warzone Resurrection (which I find a to be a very good game).

Bless ye... I have never got past 3rd edition Warhammer yet, though I do own 5th now.

So really its a moot point.

But so many great games out there, Im amazed anyone is so wedded to one game system only.

Kings of War as my replacement for fantasy (already started on that).
Warmachine since it's finally taking off recently.
Halo fleet game is on the horizon and looks good.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Well, I probably won't get ride of my High Elf army even if 9th isa bust, I've have had almost all of the models for the last 13 years so I don't plan on getting rid of them either way. Fantasy was the game that got me into wargaming, and the nostalgia of my Elves has always kept me playing it, even when it became my side game to Warmachine/Hordes, Mordheim, BF:G, Necromunda, Malifaux, X-Wing, Freebooter's Fate and a few other games. I will try 9th, iI will try the hell out of it, but if it is like anything with the newer editions of 40k, I probably won't stick with it. Will give it a solid effort though.

Same with my undead, which I've had for around 25 years through thick and thin. They just don't get used any more and even after pruning back hard on GW stuff (even taking a couple of bags full of codices to the charity shop) I'm not getting shot of them. They sit boxed up in the attic, never to see daylight again. Too many other good games happening to bother with the state of WFB nowadays

I'll keep playing 8th. With some tweaks. Frankly, my group has already started looking into this, and twitching things around to make it a bit more balanced, and rework the army books while we're at it. If GW doesn't want to do it, then we'll take it from here.

I already play cutlass, saga, hail Caesar and pike and shotte, if 9th is that bad that I don't enjoy playing it I will just flog the minis for some cash as already play enough other games, or if I feel up for it, picking up signal close action

Why not do it anyway? Its pretty clear that GW don't have the chops and its always good fun.

I'm not worried about 9th being some crazy butcher of the game. If I don't like it then I won't play 9th and I will just play 8th.
If the skirmish game on round bases is a sort of different game I probably will try it but I like my massive skaven army with hundreds of models on the table. My FLGS will have people who want to play 8th if 9th sucks and if not I'll just play at home with friends.

Having just built a kow abyssal dwarf army, I'll stick with warhammer thanks. Can't be doing with metal parts on plastic and poorly made components that don't match up. I'll still play 8th, and if I like 9th, I'll play that as well.

I will just put my army into storage if I don't like the direction of 9th.

I already play infinity (switched to it from 40k 6-7 years ago).

I normally have 2 game systems in play at any one time - and I'll be looking for a newer one to replace the fantasy one, though.

I will definitely try 9th.

If I don't like it, I'll give KOW a try. I've heard too many good things about it to ignore it.

I've been down the Warmachine path - didn't care for it.

And of course I'll still have my 8th ed stuff in case someone wants to 'go classic'. LOL.

There is not this idea.

I'm already trying out KOW, for the simple fact that the rules as they stand now are a much better fit for the people I play with.

But I'm perfectly willing to try 9th out when it comes. I mean, I still really have no idea what it's going to be.

If all the doomsayers turn out right and 9th edition sucks, I'll just play 6th edition in my basement with my sons and friends. If 9th is great, we'll pick up the 9th rules and use those and expland our gaming to the FLGS.

Plus we'll keep playing 40K.

This "sky is falling" hysteria seems to come every edition though and things are never even close to what the rumours predict. So we'll see, but in the end I don't really care because I'm good either way. And just as an insurance policy I just bought an entire Lizardman army for one son, plus some reinforcements for my Brets.

I will definitely try 9th. The latest rounds of stuff i've been hearing appeal to me greatly. I like that now i can get a quick sense-making-sized game, or scale up depending on how much my friends and I have. Often we have 90 minutes to get a game, and when your best friends and most often opponents play Night Gobbos and Skaven... yeah. You'll barely get set up before its time to call it.

I sympathize for those that don't like what they hear, but particularly in the last two weeks i'm pretty excited again. I'm glad i took the risk and gobbled up a lot of NOS / NIB stuff at slashed discounts on bartertown and elsewhere when doomsaying was at it zenith. (If that makes me an awful profiteer, meh, it wouldn't be the worst thing i've been called today! ).

Mainly 40k with older editions of fantasy and malifaux on the side. I dislike some of the mechanics of KoW that are not being changed much at all in the second edition. I wish KoW had a more robust magic system and a bit more variety for characters. Additionally I wish that different weapon options were balanced differently even if it would result in a "lack of realism". I am unaware of any fantasy setting dominated by hordes of guys with pikes.

I am considering getting into field of glory with Aztecs as well.

KoW. If I hate 9th, I'll play KoW for big battles with WHFB. If I like 9th, I'll play both. I kind of hope I love the skirmish setup so I can do GW for skirmish and KoW for mass battles. But I'm hopeful the whole way through. I'd love to come back to GW. But they need to stop beating me like an abusive spouse. Or else I'll keep cheating on them with their younger sister. But I'd prefer a ménage de trois.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I'm friends with a guy whose working on making his own square-based Science-Fantasy themed wargame.

Not sure how much precisely I can say about it at the moment, but i's still in the pre-production phase (currently we have a kickstarter planned for 2016) and he's planning to do a press release and give some details pretty soon.

So I'll probably go over to that game-system when it comes out.

In the meantime, lots of Kings of War with Counts-As rules
