As in the title, do i have to be playing skies of death or w.e. to take the rule on my space wolves storm wolf? or can i just take it for the 35 points and use it in any game? its not in the codex, but on battle scribe its an option for 35 points. i dont want to cheat my friends or show up to a tourny looking like a cheat.

It's in Shield of Baal Leviathan.

Short answer, it is technically legal, though it would probably be a good idea to make sure your opponent is OK.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

It applies to all games of 40k now. Just as all the shield of baal and stormclaw formations can be legally taken.

I think we need to start taking the ask for forgiveness and not permission route. There is nothing technical about the legality. It is 100% legal. Just tell your opponent that your list is built using options in both Codex: Space Wolves and Shield of Baal: Leviathan. If he's not familiar with Shield of Baal: Leviathan, let him read the rule. If he has a problem with it, THEN you discuss what sources you'll be drawing from to build army lists.

I still occasionally pay 50 points for a chance to grant my GK Stormraven PML2 and Vortex of Doom, because a Str D Skyfire Large Blast is worth it.

Those rules are outdated

Out dated, but still legal.

How are they still legal if the rules have been updated?

SJ

Outdated make them not legal. That's why you can't play with previous versions of a codex.

Well you could, if your group agrees to allow older publications.
