Looking through again I can't find where I got this idea, but I was under the impression that a model in combat is unable to control an Objective. Is that true or am I misremembering? If that is true, does that become negated by Objective Secured so that a unit with Obj Sec is locked in combat with a unit without Obj Sec, the unit with Obj Sec is controlling? Again, that's if a unit locked in combat can't normally claim an objective. I know in a non combat situation Obj Sec gets priority.

There is no such tile. You score sane in and out of assault.

You are misremembering. The only requirement to control an objective is to have a model within 3" of the objective. Of course, the standard "is there another enemy close by" thing impacts this. Combat does not.

Well that makes things much easier. I wonder where I got that idea from though... It's a weird rule for me to just come up with and believe completely.

I think it MIGHT have been in an earlier edition. I can't remember specifically. Back then I was a GW Store Manager. We weren't expected to actually KNOW the rules... just to sell you more Space Marines.

Sounds like a confusion from earlier editions, though I don't remember anything spelled out strictly that they wouldn't score. It was just that if you are in combat with another unit, the opposing unit was likely also in range to contest/deny.
