It would make sense as you have to get through the armour before you see if it hurts the target.
It probably is simpler to do it the other way as it involves less dice exchanging, (Opponent taking saving throws then the other rolling to wound) but still...

Even as a casual forum visitor I've seen this topic a bunch of times already. Sticky?

The order does not matter from a mathematical approach because multiplication is commutative. You could roll saves before rolling to hit if you really wanted to.

So the main consideration is what goes faster, and that's having one player roll both hit and wound then the other player taking saves.
