My son recently built a moderately sized space marine army and was wondering about possible names for his chapter. The colours are white and blue quartered with a yellow helmet and the fouding chapter is not important. I have attachted some pics to help get the creative juices flowing.

White and blue together usually remind me of nobility or royalty, while the yellow helms make me think of Lions. Kings of the beasts immediately comes to mind, but mixed with the idea of formal nobilite.

Maybe...erm.

The Lionsguard.

Could go with something noble and avian too like The Kingfishers.

White, blue and yellow also remind me of the sky though.

The Sky Wardens.
Skyguard.
The Sky Lords.

Dunno if any of those help.

Any particular reason for the helms being gold/yellow?

Disciples of Perkele, named after an old marine from their (not important) founders who was detailed to lead and organize the training of the new Chapter. The training cadre was expected to return home after 50 years at the most but there was a Dark Eldar raid. The Chapter's First Company banner shows the scene of the scarred old veteran taking out the Archon's Raider with his powerfist seconds before being killed in the resulting explosion. To this day they honor his sacrifice which ensured that all the fresh scouts got to carry on their training and become proper Space Marines instead of ending up in a filthy xeno slave arena.

The blue and white symbolize their homeworld. Blue water and white snow. The yellow helmets are to show they have learned their lessons well, a homage to the primary color of their (not important) founders.

Blue and white makes me think of the sky, and the yellow with it makes me think of the rising sun, so how about a name that has something to do with the dawn?

Thinks it's just to add some colour and make them seem more interesting. Also I think white and blue quartered has been done before.

Thanks for the ideas guys, some really good ones here. I particularly like the idea of the colours symbolising the homeworld.

I kind of like Warhounds...? Sun Warriors (use Salamander tactics?) If they come from an icy world, they could be associated with Space Wolve, in that case Warhounds wins.

Note that "perkele" is a mild expletive in Finnish. To some it'd sound about as silly as calling your chapter the Space Chingaderas.

The yellow helmet could be company color like the Storm Lords.

War Harpies maybe? Kinda sounds feminine to me, but the white and blue made of think of the sky, so that's the best I could come up with at this point in time.

I kind of think the Astral Storm fits these quite well

They kinda remind me of the Eagle Warriors and the Marines Errant Chapters. Because I lack imagination when it comes to naming, the best I can come up with is the Eagle Errants Chapter.

Any background information might help.

Since the symbol on the banner is a sword (or rather: sabre) you could also do something with that:

Yellow helmet over white and blue calls to mind the noonday (or any other time of day) sun. Some sort of solar imagery seems reasonable anyway.

ahh now I know why the colour scheme seemed familer. very close to the nova marines. you could fluff them as a Novamarine sucessor chapter to be differnt (which makes them basicly "ultramarine grand children)

Hmmm,

Names are usually motivated by character ad back story. What is the chapter's story? What is their motivation? What flavor is their play style? How about their temperament?

Believe it or not, these things are incredibly important when it comes to creating fluff and picking names that instantly evoke and reflect that character.

As soon as i saw them i thought Galactic Partridges.

I thought this straight away also. I also like Lions Guard. They fortress can be called the Lions Den.

A frozen white icy death world with clear blue skies. A cold bitter wintery sun blazing down from which you cannot hide and there is no escape. Just like the Marine chapter that watches over it. The homeworld of the Sky Reavers.

Their colouration is bright and lacks the grittiness or some darker legions, so I think an equally 'pure' name would be good. Additionally, the colours remind me of Greece for some reason.
