So I came across the old cities of death supplement and by God did it look fun. My question is can you play it in 7th edition and ignore the blurb about it in the nid campaign supplement?

Gw I feel like you really dropped the ball on that update.

Excellent! I wasn't sure because some rules don't translate well between editions.

You will need to house rule a few things IIRC

but it should mostly be playable.

Besides, fun with friends right?

Cities of Death are always fast, brutal and exceedingly fun.

House rulings will be needed though to work with 7th.

"Fun with friends" is the best way to play 40k and Cities of Death in particular. Houserule it enough to work and go nuts!

As CoD was released around 5th edition and I started playing 6th are there any rules that were changed? I've noticed some things that were referenced to the BRB that seemed odd. Also, I'm not sure if I understand the buildings turning into ruins turning into creators. How does that work? Do buildings have armor value and hull points in prior editions?

my brother has gone through and made a rather nicelooking version of the cities of death rulebook. he plans realy useing its rules for a campaign he plans on running.
he got rid of any rules that dont make sence anymore but keeps the feel of the game (he also stuck with a good readable format).

Alternatively, Horus Heresy book 4 has updated CoD rules that are much better than the pathetic "main GW" attempt, along with a lot of other nice campaign stuff.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Go for it man. Cities of Death is one of my favorite ways to play 40k, just behind Apoc (actually CoD Apoc would be absolutely awesome if I could get enough terrain to cover 6+ boards).

As others have said, you have to make a few adjustments here and there to fix rule changes. But it's very straight forward and adds a lot of flavor to your games.

Well, I have this large desert stile board that I'm trying to build up into a city board. I'm torn between removing all the paint/sand and starting over or just keeping it as and just focusing on building more ruins/buildings.
It's just really expensive to cover the table. I know that some people would say to make some buildings yourself but I like the look and the simplicity of the GW city sector.

Cities of Death is one of my fav supplements, just house rule the bits that dont work and enjoy some of the best 40k you will play... Fill the board with terrain and see what happens!

Anyone have any pictures of city terrain/board they have created?

I have to say that the things I've seen people do really inspire me.

I would love to see some of that as well.

What is the lure of city fight games anyway? What makes them different, and what sorts of rules do they modify or add?

It isn't "fluff" - it's lore.

That looks like a beautiful book. I would love to have that on my shelf even just to read through :-)

Why not a desert city? Use the Zandri Dust spray and drybrush with Ushbati Bone. It could be a once imperial city on a planet long destroyed that is now nothing but desert.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

It is and he's right. It is a fantastic resource for CoD and has a brilliantly conceived campaign system.

That is a great idea. I'd love to see that realized.
