What are the chances the skitarii or mechanicus might get a system like marines have, when they take an HQ they can get an armory relic like the Thanatar with a plasma mortar. Would it, for more points, be balanced if limited to one per army? The model looks cool.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

I am going under the assumption the skitarii book is like the scions book, and a larger full book is on the way with mechanicus, with HQ's.

It depends on how the Thanatar interacts with rest of the codex. On its own, not really OP at all. It's expensive as hell, and lots of 40K armies have the tools to take it down. A Knight could kill it with one hit in melee. Hell, the thing is really easy to tarpit.

On the other hand, supporting the Thanatar with buffs and psychic powers can turn it into a beast.

I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

The Thanatar, is part of the legio cybernetica so i dont think they would let another sect of the Admech have any of there toys.

Lore out of the wayi been using one to good effect giving it paragon of metel has been handy with it, i run a 30k army in the 40k setting. It is one of those you must shoot me units so they look at it instead of other units, which i find the Skitarii lack.
Model wile they are really nice looking dome head and all but the price tag on them hurt a little, points aswell.

GW gonna do a full AdMech codex eventually, when that happens I think FW will follow up with a IA book once the Horus Heresy book covering Mars civil war is out.

FW will want to underscore the distinction between Mechanicus and Mechanicum and the 10000 years since the Heresy. Like they did with marines by altering rules from their HH version. Robots in the 40k era will likely end up being governed by whatever rules GW has in the Mechanicus codex. That could make things like the Thanatar that much more or less worthwhile.

As far as relics go... lets pretend for a moment that GW gives us in 40k Magos and Arch Magos, it's easy enough for FW to say a HH era relic is the personal project of that particular Magos in his quest for understanding or even just preserving what might otherwise become lost technology.

I have mixed feelings about GW doing a Mechanicus codex because I doubt GW will give us nearly as many options and nearly as much flavor as FW has.

If the Legiones Astartes can get Battle-Automata I don't see why another branch of the AdMech could get their hands on some.

Not necessarily, although the specifics of the difference between 30k and 40k marines are new, that there was a massive difference between them has been a core part of the Codex Astartes fluff for 20+ years. By comparison similar fluff for the AdMech was completely thrown out the window: Adeptus Titanicus originally stated that the Titan Legions were abolished and replaced by Military Orders, that was then completely discarded when they released the Titan Legions game.

As to the matter of Skitarii lacking a HQ, unless they've changed it the marines Relic of the Armoury rule only requires a Master of Relics if you want 2+ vehicles with the rule.
