Not only that, BF4 had like 6 different DLC packs, meaning what we get at the initial release, will probably not be everything we get. The packs themselves added weapons, vehicles, maps, equipment, ect.
Heck, they might even add a spacefight pack.

Reddit is ranting because at this point there seems to be absolutely zero reason to play the Star Wars Battlefront reboot instead of just modding the second game, which has space battles, massive bot support with well over sixty ai bots being possible, no DLC bs, etc.The only thing the new Battlefront has going for it is modern graphics and the Frostbite Engine.

Most game remakes tend to discuss how they are better, what features have been changed, or how to make things overall accessible.

The only announcements I keep seeing from the developers is "We aren't gonna have X!" Which..is one of the weirdest way of announcing things.

Aye, at this point we only really know what they wont have, which is a bizarre form of marketing.

So what's going to make this smaller, space-less, bot-less Battlefront with fewer planets going to offer that makes it better? Recent Battlefield products haven't exactly been inspiring, so I need something to convince me it'll be worthwhile.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

- Stunning graphics, and therefore a better overall experience
- Maps that look to be much larger than anything on the previous games
- Larger battles, in terms of numbers, than the console versions of the previous games ever managed
- Likely a greater degree of class choice/customisation, seeing as how we already know specific types of pistols/rifles/grenades will be available
- Good luck getting an online game of Battlefront II on anything other than PC
- All the extra quality that comes off being made a decade after the last one in terms of speed, size, visuals, smoothness ect.

The new Battlefront will get all the features currently missing (i.e. more planets, space battles etc.). Just be prepared for 20$ DLCs. I'll say that the final product will cost around 100-120$.

-Graphics don't make a game experience much better.

- Dunno bout map size, but so far Battlefront 2 had 33 maps, 16 planets. Remake will have 12 maps, 4 planets.

-Smaller battles actually, it's going to be 20 vs 20. Battlefront 2 could support 32 vs 32

-So long as I have my Dark Trooper loadout, they can do whatever.

- Yep

-Hopefully

Anyways here's a list of everything compiled so far.

At least on console, BF2 was 16-a-side (offline), unless there's some way to change that that I have missed for the last 10 years.

The graphics are important to me, simply as (compared to what we have now) the BF graphics are the one thing about those games that is not just about perfect. They are tolerable, and there are plenty from the same time that don't hold up as well, but Star Wars has always been a very visual thing really, and these new graphics do look pretty darn epic!

And that chart is slightly wrong, there is a single player/offline mode. From what I gather, the offline missions/battles can be played co op, but don't have to be.

Just wanting to point this out, but on Battlefront 2's map count it was beefed up with "Space Only" maps as well as certain maps catering to one game type.

-Smaller battles actually, it's going to be 20 vs 20. Battlefront 2 could support 32 vs 32

There's a significant difference between "It could support" and "It could play them reliably".

I've addressed this before, but elsewhere on the internets.

That comparison chart is absolutely useless. Whoever made it should be ashamed of themselves.

They've had at least two game modes announced so far(Walker Assault and Conquest), they've announced FAR more than "two" vehicles(Snowspeeder, Speeder Bikes, Millenium Falcon, X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE Fighter/Bomber, AT-STs) and counting turrets is just stupid(do we really think there will not be turrets in Battlefront? because it's not like DICE doesn't have emplaced weapons in Battlefield amirite!), the nonsense about "only 2 heroes" is ridiculous(the only two they've showcased have been Darth Vader and Boba Fett--do you really think those aren't going to have mirrors on the Rebel side?), and the "DLC" for Jakku has been repeatedly stated to be free not just to anyone who preorders but anyone who buys the game period .

To be completely honest, they lost me when they started bragging that there are twelve maps. It's unacceptable in my eyes to charge $60 for that little content. Gears of War 3 launched with 11 (I believe) multi-player maps, along with an (opinions!) incredible single-player/co-op campaign, not to mention Horde and Beast modes.

Then there's this game. No single player, only four planets (I know, several maps each, still disappointing) and "some" co-op stuff.. As of right now, that's just nowhere near enough content for me, so I will do the only thing I can and vote with my wallet. It's just a damn shame, as this game could have been truly exceptional.

Kingdom Death Fanatic. Dark Eldar: Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Dark Elves: Allegiance to the Black Crown. Also, Masons, Cygnar, and Legion of Everblight. All unnamed.

Never had any problems with it myself.

It's also an older chart, and I haven't discovered a newer version. Course I myself hope it's vastly better if they removed the clone wars factions.

That chart is mostly pure speculation and misinformation. It has been confirmed that there are at least 16 maps and the argument that, since we have only seen two vehicles and heroes that must mean that is all we get is stupid.

It points out that there are no longer classes but rather loadouts instead. This is a good thing, I only ever played as the regular trooper (and maybe a sniper) because all the other classes had too specific a role. Combine all your favourite guns for how you play however is a definite improvement in my opinion!

Padagrim is right in saying that graphics are a big thing as well. While BF2 still looks okay for its time, especially with a few mods, this new game looks absolutely spectacular!

Right, because there are 4 more coming with "Battle of Jakku"--which releases December 1st for those who preordered the game and December 8th for anyone who didn't. And again--Battle of Jakku is free to anyone who owns the game.

Supposedly, the reason why is that it has plot related elements for the film which releases December 18th.

Twelve maps of considerable size is very different to Gears and its maps which could fit into a small section of a single Battlefield map.

If we were talking itty bitty maps, I could agree. But as it stands we're looking at DICE--who even their smaller maps are pretty large.

Again, there is single player. No 'campaign' as such, but offline vs AI battles are still present. Seeing as that was the most significant offline part of BF1/2, what more could you want?

You are clearly much more confident in them than I, Kan. As I said, I'm not saying no one else should buy it, but as far as I'm concerned, they've only killed my trust and need to earn it back before I'd buy it. Only time will tell.

I found that this video pretty much sums up my views on the game. It also addresses that stupid chart a few posts above,

I'm still excited for it. I expect to see more things like the Jakku DLC: stuff that has strong ties to the new movie that they hold onto until after release because of spoilers. This is serious doom and gloom over something that makes logical sense right now.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Graphics are a petty feature that doesn't add much at all. Modern Warfare is vastly superior compared to Advanced Warfare.

- Maps that look to be much larger than anything on the previous games

Only if you were on console. I run Space-to-Ground mods for Battlefront II covering an entire city's worth of space along with multiple MOVING ships in the atmosphere.

- Larger battles, in terms of numbers, than the console versions of the previous games ever managed

There's no reason to have ever owned console copies of the Battlefront games. On PC, both titles blow everything out of the water. I can run games with an absurd amount of bots, or even put all of the bots onto one team for 1:100+ odds. Or split the bots in any number of teams I so wish.

- Likely a greater degree of class choice/customisation, seeing as how we already know specific types of pistols/rifles/grenades will be available

Not really that special at all in what is supposed to be a rigid class based game. Plus it makes no sense for the Empire, where everything is standardized.

- Good luck getting an online game of Battlefront II on anything other than PC

Remind me again why anybody cares about garbage consoles? Plus even with Gamespy shut down, I can still get servers for Battlefront I and II.

- All the extra quality that comes off being made a decade after the last one in terms of speed, size, visuals, smoothness ect.

Actually no. FPS has been decreasing for a very long while. Battlefront runs at butter smooth levels well above sixty FPS- going well into the hundred. This game will probalby be scraping around at forty at best- let alone the bare minimum of sixty.

Have you actually PLAYED Advanced Warfare?

Because it's actually a hell of a lot more fun than any of the Modern Warfares were. You don't often see people running the 'power builds' that they saw on some YouTuber's channel, you don't see people sticking to one single weapon, etc.

@Wyzilla: what you say is fine for anyone who plays on PC, but for the huge number (majority?) of people who play on consoles for whatever reason, this new game is undoubtedly better than BF2 from a technical perspective.

You're doing it wrong. There is zero reason to buy any game on console, especially one you could mod or is old enough that even a cardboard box could run it.

All the friends you regularly game with play consoles, you have no interest in keeping an updated PC, or any number of things are reasons to "buy any game on console".

And really, mods are not the end all be all. The vast majority of mods for games are useless trash.

Some of us just like to have a controller in our hands rather than a bunch of keys. I have a pretty powerful PC yet I still went out and bought a PS4 to fulfil all my gaming needs.

Sure you can mod stuff but like Kan said, 99% of the mods are pointless and come at the cost of having to buy a super powerful and expensive computer that will need constant tweaking and tech skills as opposed to a console just isn't worth it in my opinion.

But this is just turning into the age-old PC vs console war which has been done to death. Sure the old battlefront is good with mods and stuff (I actually recently bought it myself) but that doesn't stop most of us wanting a star wars game that isn't a decade old.

You know you can use Controllers with the PC right? Including Playstation controllers.

I do indeed. Spent four hours configuring it to work on my laptop and then another hour to work with battlefront. My point still stands though, there are still a couple of us out there who prefer consoles...

I know, just making sure though on that part since people I've known for the longest time never knew PC's could use controllers.

Fighting games on the PC would be a vast pain if I had to use keyboard only...

Someone asked 4chan how to sell it (saw a screen shot of it) because he heard people making thousands off domain names. This must have been the result.

As someone who played a crapton of Galactic Conquest, the lack of that mode in the new battlefront is practically a deal breaker. I was super excited for the game, but they're basically doing everything they can to show that, despite all protests, it really is just a reskin.

I don't really get all the love for Galactic Conquest.

It literally was just the ability to set up a playlist and have modifiers, wasn't it?
