The New Miss Macross!
|
Thanks for posting this. I'm not really keen on anything from this wave either and it'll likely be the second wave in a row where I don't buy anything. At this point, the most of the remaining fighters I want are way out of the timeframe the game is ostensibly set in (either from way back like the Clone Wars ARC-170 or way in the future EU like the TIE Predator). The only thing from the rebellion era that I'd like possibly is a missile gunboat from the old XVT PC games.

Always weird to see stormtroopers holding those blaster rifles like pistols, in the movie it's only really Luke and Leia that do that. I don't mind single pose too much in this context, it's more of a board game than a miniatures game really.
Not bothered about any of those X-Wing ships, my wallet is relieved to hear me say.

In the RPG (the saga WOTC last one), the standard blaster had a folding stock standard that let you fire it as a pistol when retracted (one handed with shorter range brackets) or as a rifle (two handed with longer range) when extended.

They're almost never pictured without the folding stocks since they're a standard feature on the Sterling SMG, but you still don't generally see Stormtroopers firing them in a pistol stance in the movie.

X-Wing Wave VII is a complete dud (though I'm sure I'll end up buying the K-Wing and Tie Bomber Squared, though I can't stand their models).
However, Imperial Assault.
Wookiees.

Shame they're dredging up the chaff from the eu and not things like the assault gunboat or missile boat.
That TIE Punisher looks like it was phoned in from the pub. The k-wing just looks dull and uninspired. I'd laugh if both of these do feature in Ep.7 though!

Still my favourite edition of the RPG.
Thanks for posting these up, AAN. Conversions remain the best option for interesting IA heroes and villains but these packs are still going to have their uses so they are an auto-buy for me

Same here. It went far enough for me in changing 3rd edition D&D/d20 Star Wars to be worthy of a new edition title and the changes made for a quicker and better game. I wish they had stopped there instead of cranking it up to 11 with the failed 4th edition D&D.

That was pretty much always the destiny of the X-Wing game. I mean, the basic universe only has what, 8 total fighters in it? A, B, X, Y and then the four TIEs?

Really excited for the K Wing and its A10 vibe it gives off. The Scum "totally" not an X wing and Hounds tooth are interesting, but not jaw dropping, and the TIE uber bomber is eh, although ill probably get one.

K-wing... I'd need to see more angles. Could be cool. Its big, looks like it might want to be a 'supership'. Hope it has a pilot and upgrade combo to make it work.
Punisher does look... a bit... yeah. It'll probably come with cards you need though.
I don't mind the Kihraxz, looks like a not-ewing.
The hounds tooth, I know nothing about it but it looks chunky and I kind of like it.

Yeah, this wave leaves me with less-than-fuzzy feelings.
Not a huge fan of the bounty hunters, so Hound's Tooth doesn't appeal to me beyond upgrade cards. The TIE and SWG ship just seem rather generic/uninspired and the K-Wing is, ironically, probably the strongest ship on the wave for what I like, and the K-Wing is fairly far down on the list of ships in the Star Wars Universe for me.
This might be a "snag one here or there" wave for me, which actually works out well since Armada is appealing to me so much.

Can't stand the Hound's tooth - looks like someone strapped a WW2 bomber to the back of a sandcrawler.
I do wish they would do Clone Wars. There's some nice ships yet to plunder from there.

Apparently when the Hounds Tooth dies you can escape in a Z-95 (if you have the model - either a reg Z95 or one of the scum Z95s) that Bossk carries inside the ship?

These Stormtroopers are posed slightly differently to those in the base game so at least there are two poses now.
