So I've been contemplating how I can beat down one of these beasts...since my poison just isn't going to cut it.

I've come up with two things:

1. Blasterborn deep strike cross fingers, or reavers HoW it.

2. Getting a Solitaire into CC with it, and work it down. It can get like 12 attacks on the charge when it activates its blitz. I could also give him the rose to re-roll to hit, and re-roll to wound his Insta death for potential D3 wounds ignoring FnP, plus with the wraithknights limited base 4 attacks he could even tarpit him with 3+ Invul and fearless

Yeah there's really nothing either of those armies have to deal with Garg creatures.

However, I feel that they are the best suited to ignoring and avoiding it. Ironically our paper transports have a better chance against ranged D than heavily armored vehicles.

I'd say if you're playing Harlies and DE and your opponent is enough of an donkey-cave to bring one of those atrocities you've got more problems to deal with.

Like, say, 150+ S6 shots shredding your whole army in two shooting phases.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Solitaire is not a good idea versus a wraithknight anymore. It has stomp now, so any 6 will just remove the Solitaire from play, sadly.

I would say best bet is to use the awesome Shadowseer powers to kill the Wraithknight. Mirror of Minds (?) could kill it flat out.

Thats right, I forgot about the dang strength D stomps..daaannnggg, I thought I had something here.

I like the idea with the psychic power, I think that could do some serious damage, but my guys would be in charge range next turn...probably get obliterated.

Psychic Shriek.

A Shadowseer with the Mask of Secrets who rolls Telepathy, in a Raider/Venom with an Archon (with the Armor of Misery) and a Covens Haemonculus can deliver his Shriek to a Wraithknight laboring under a -5 Ld penalty (-6 if the Shadowseer got Terrify). With no armor saves allowed. You can even give one of the two Dark Eldar a Webway Portal to enjoy a scatterless Deep Strike. If you use the Raider, you can bring along a few Grotesques (or a unit of Harlies) to act as wound sinks.

Furthermore, this little pack of vicious is useful against a wide variety of targets, so it won't even be a waste in your lists.

This. Then take harlies, then take 5 Neuro Disruptors in that raider. Gargantuan gives no protection from AP2 fleshbane. so Shriek then (if it isn't dead) finish it with the Disruptors.

That leadership bubble also combos great with a death jester against squads, cause a single casualty and they are taking a -6 LD test or break in a direction of your choice (I recommend off the table)

When you add Codex Eldar or Corsairs to the mix, the leadership based tactics get even more grotesque (plus you get a lot more reliable anti-armor).

You might consider taking an allied wraithknight - they're the perfect counter to wraithknights.

I'm more interested in other codex's counter to it. the IOM option seems to really just be some sort of deep striking in or gate of infinity grav/centstar or possibly enough bikes with gravguns.

Remind me, do gargantuan monsters get cover by having a toe in ruins?

A squad of 10 harlequins with caresses will kill it in one round of combat, if they can get to it.

.

It would take a few to kill it. Plus you need to run in close to be able to use it.

There seemed to be some interest in my strategy of using Leadership negatives coupled with psychic powers to take down large enemies like the Gargantuan Wraithknight. I thought sharing my own thoughts on the strategy might help other people, so I started a series of tactica posts on the subject, which you can find here.
