Furthermore, hammerhand and counter-attack will make them hit even harder. But the inquisition Hammerhand is +1 str instead of +2 iirc. Still good enough.
Isn't that Sanctic power? Then Inquisition perills on any doubles, not only 6s. Also the power comes form the BRB, not the codex.

We have been testing blob guard for several months prepping for the ATC. I very much believe it is a competitive army. We are playing a 40 man blob with autocannons/meltabombs a priest, Yarrick and a sanguinary priest attached to it. It's NOT gonna die. It holds it's objective, kills what it needs to kill and protects the wyverns all at the same time. We are supplementing it with the flesh tearers strike force and letting vets in pods do some work around the table. a Vendetta and a Raven deliver the pcs and sws packing flamers when needed. It is very very hard to lose with the army. It can and will score at least 15 against anything you throw against it.

Yeah, platoon guard are not as good as they used to be, but I still love playing it.
I’ve been bringing platoon-heavy lists to tournaments for 15 years. Now I’m neither a good player nor a competitive player, but here’s how my platoon-heavy guard (usually 100 to 150 infantry in 1500 to 2000 point games) have fared:
3rd and 4th editions: I won about half my games
5th edition: I won about a third of my games
6th edition: I won about a quarter of my games
7th: I think I’ve won about 1 out of 12 tourney games in 7th…
With regard to playing quickly in tournaments, just practice rapid deployment, rapid movement, rapid target selection, and rapid dice rolling in pickup games and in no time you'll be playing platoon-heavy guard quickly in RTTs. However, as noted, display trays for rapid IG corpse placement are really helpful.

But the old school traditional platoon of individual units does not really, simply way too easy to kill without having any corresponding firepower value. It doesn't help that mechanized platoons got hit with a massive unnecessary cost increase with the last codex as well, going up 40pts base for a minimum sized mechanized platoon. I used to run those all the time.
Whats a mechanized platoon?
platoon mounted in Chimeras. In the previous book, you could get a fairly well rounded platoon with two AC/ GL squads and a PCS with quad meltas, all in Chimeras, for 365pts. Now it's 405pts, and less effective due to fewer firing points (not to mention the nerfs to vehicles since 5E).

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

Attaching Al Rahem for Outflank was also pretty amazing. Too bad they nerfed the hell out of the IG dex...it had a lot of flavor once upon a time, and was actually very competitive.

Yeah, it was really a very poorly handled and largely phoned in book. Now seeing what Eldar and Necrons are getting less than a year later is pretty painful.

Yes IG got boned pretty bad losing marbo, chenkov, al rahem and so much arty. ig fluff/bl is so rich and interesting, I dunno why the codex/gameplay got watered down so bad.
movement trays are a must have, can even have a set on the table and a set on a display tray. Then as your guys get killed place them in squads in the display table trays you will be already setup for the next game!
