Hi Guys,

I keep arguing with a friend playing Astra Mitilarum.
He prevent that since the Leman Russ is an heavy tank, firing its battle canon does not force it to snap shot the other weapons.

The rules book (7th edition) clearly specify for Super Heavy that using an ordinance weapon does not affect its capacity to fire other gun at full ballistic skill, how ever it does not mention it for Heavy (even if it does precise that heave are always consider as immobilize).

Please help?

Thank you.

You friend is either confusing Heavy with Super-Heavy or making things up. Either way he's wrong. Nothing about Heavy overrules the Ordnance imposed snap shots.

Heavy Vehicles has no effect on the Ordnance rule so has to Snap Fire weapons after firing Ordnance.

Heavy Vehicles says nothing about allowing you to shoot other weapons at full BS when firing ordnance. The fact that you count as stationary has no effect (since not moving on a normal vehicle doesn't do anything).

Your Super Heavy comparison is further proof. Super Heavy vehicles only can fire at full BS because it has a rule that specifically gives permission to fire at full BS after firing Ordnance. Heavy vehicles do not have that permission and as such do not get to fire at full BS after firing Ordnance.

By the way, doesn't this same rule make the havoc launcher on the Defiler a completely pointless option?

Well it's not a completely useless upgrade since it can give you another weapon to eat Weapon Destroyed results or give you more weapons to shoot if the Battle Cannon gets destroyed. Also you may be in situations where it's not worth firing the Battle Cannon such as you are standing right in front of the unit you are firing at and don't want the Battle Cannon to scatter back onto the Defiler.

But yes if you fired the Battle Cannon you can't fire the Havoc Launcher.

You are correct. Which is why I always equip it with a Heavy Flamer instead Also the HF is twin-linked, so its murder rate is pretty high towards anything that wants to get close to a Deffy (not that that is ever a good idea unless you are a unit of TH/SS Assault Terminators)
