Is it WAAC to not allow yourself to be crushed by an alpha strike list? Many Xeno players on here complain about pods because they don't understand how to neuter the alpha strike.

True a lot have no clue how to deal with a Pod list.

As for my WAAC days, I was a Rules Lawyer and even a jack- to everyone I played against.

To be super WAAC, and if one has enough models, one can create "drop pod traps". These are holes in your formations precisely wide enough to allow a drop pod to land, but not large enough to allow enemy models to deploy. They all die instantly. I have done this twice to SW players in 7th much to their consternation. But against SW, I need all the help I can get.

Why would someone fall for that in a million years? Wouldn't they just pod in the middle of the table or on their own side of the board then?

Greed or desperation. And if they pod into the middle of the board or their own side, their alpha strike fails, and their army probably crumbles. Drop pod armies are so terribly immobile once they come down.

I still don't see the bonus. The benefit of not having your guys die immensely outweighs whatever killing power you lose by DSing somewhere else.

The bonus for the non-drop pod army is they just averted the alpha strike that drop pod lists rely upon.

I depend on the level of your pod list.
3-5 Drop Pods you are looking at doing mostly Suicide-Assassinations.
Your whole Army in Pods can if done right cripple an army quickly. If you do it wrong you still cripple an army, just not the one you wanted to.
Poding is always a High Risk, High Reward Operation.

True, but your opponent gets to determine the level of reward. Doesn't sound like a good TAC strategy except for SW, who are especially suited to not being able to assault.
