Subject: Knight Warden Kit: How you Plan to Field Yours?

Hey mates, just ordered the Knight Warden today as not only is it an awesome model, but it will bring some much needed punch to my current army, which is the Militarum tempestus Scions. That being said, I am still debating on how I should field it, as there are a lot of options I could go. At the moment, since my army in particular doesn't have a lot of Anti-Tank options, I am leaning towards this particular build if it is allowed:
Knight Warden:
-w/Thermal Cannon, Thunderstrike Gauntlet, Carapace-Mounted Stormspear Rocket Pod, Meltagun, Hvy. Flamer
Very Anti-Tank and the Guantlet will provide much needed CC support against other units. But I have also been tempted to run the Gatling Cannon as well, which is why Io plan to eventually magnetize the Weapon Arms so I can switch out and try out various combinations, but this is what I plan to field to start. What do you think? And if you plan to field one as well, feel free to share what you want to run and why.

Since this is the original kit with an extra sprue, will there be enough parts to make different arms w/ weapons and swap them out?
I plan on using mine to supplement my vostroyan regiment, that allies with skitari for vendetta parachuting haywire.
I'm going to paint it in admech colors with the transfers that belong to admech, and give it the nice admech faceplate since the Adeptus Mechanicus are close with vostroyans

From what I understand you can field all the different 6x Types of Knights with this one Kit, so I don't think it would be to hard to accomplish that. And I plan to mainly Magnitize the Gatling Cannon/Thermal Cannon/Battle Cannon Arm so I can sqap out weaponry when I want to. If I want to go the Crusader Rout, I can always go the Ebay rout for an extra arm. But as it stands, I need anti-tank and the build above is very nice for that, as well as killing elite infantry.

Knight paladin with power fist, Autocannons, and the mainline cannon.
I think that is how I will field it.

I'm thinking on doing up a Battlecannon Crusader with a Krak missile launcher on the back, and upgrading my Errant to Fist and AA gun. Seems like a good way to go.

Building the cheap, melee only version so when I run all knights I can have other weapons than just melta cannons.

Not sure how the pure CC one would do overall, as I fell that the more flexible it is the better, especially in this current meta as the shooting weapons are extremely good, especially the Melta Cannon and the new Gatling Cannon. Granted it's your call but if it is mainly just for the fact it is extremely cheap point-wise, then go ahead.

If I played IoM I would field the Gallant with the triple krak missiles and a meltagun. I imagine it would be pretty great in CC and with 4 S8 shooting attacks at BS4 it should still be able to handle light vehicles. Anything tougher than AV12, it can melee and hurl.

I'm waiting to see the full rules, points value, options and all before i make any decisions. Either way, I plan on getting 2 of the kits to add to the 3 I already have and then mix and match to suit.

Not a bad idea at all. I plan to only have one in my army but I do plan to magnetize the weapon arms so I can mix and match, same for the Carapace Weapon. However Some people are saying that I need two minimum as one will get destroyed easily but I don't want them to take up my whole army list. Thoughts?

I think one should be fine. If you use it to fill gaps in your army as you said you were doing, there's not much need for redundancy. Plus, the more firepower is being poured into the knight, the less your scions and their transports have to worry about! If it's down to just 1-2 HP, get it closer to the enemy so that the deathsplosion will hurt him more than you.

Really liking that they have expanded the knights so there are 5 different types now and not just 2. That said, I will not be buying any of the $157 kits. That is just nuts for a plastic kit with as few pieces as GW includes. I can buy a high end 1/35 scale military kit with crazy things like individual track pieces and even individual rivets along with brass and other high detail metal parts for less than $100. I am considering building the codex and then building some custom pieces that look more like the different knights from back in the Epic days, but will never buy those over priced kits for 40k.
The only thing funnier than the $157 kit is the Exalted Court of House Terryn set that includes 5 Knights along with a *free* page of special rules all for only $785. Have they gone insane? They are only offering 100 of those kits, but if they all sell we will see that the real problem with GW prices is not that GW sets them so high, but that the koolaid drinkers willingly jump in and pay them without batting an eye.

I think that by far the best shoulder weapon is the stormspear. The other options, since you can build all the arms, why pick Automatically Appended Next Post: Skriker wrote:Really liking that they have expanded the knights so there are 5 different types now and not just 2. The IK is far from my favorite aesthetic. It just isn't my thing when it comes to looks (I hate the turtle shell thing). However, I have great respect for its design: if you look at how it goes together, it is amazing; easily the most complex model that Games Workshop has ever put together. There are many articulating parts, and although many of the pieces are fidgety, it is really awesome when you look at the detail, depth and assembly of all the pieces. I honestly don't think that $157 is overpriced, compared to other GW kits for walkers -- for instance, a Wraithknight, or Dreadknight, or Riptide. It's just way, way more complex a model. I mean, to put it in perspective, it's like comparing the complexity of a Dark Eldar Raider with a Space Marine Rhino. I think it's pointless comparing 40k models to military scale models in price. The former will always be way more expensive; if you're looking at that kind of price, nothing in the 40k universe will ever be worth looking at. But I mean, I wouldn't even assemble an M1A1 or a Raptor if someone gave me one for free. I'd just donate it to the local Christmas toy drive.... The Exalted Court of House Terryn is no big deal. They're just selling you 5 IK. I think the formation bonuses are the same as the Exalted Court in the Codex.

The argument could be made that the other big walkers are overpriced too, so the comparison with then, while valid is skewed towards over the top pricewise. Not going to fault you for liking the details, though, even if you don't like the asthetic. At the very least the Knights codex is no longer a codex for *2* units anymore. Still only 5, but that is over 2.5 times as many units as it used to have. Hahahaha
I definitely prefer military scale models and all of my IG/Lost and the Damned forces use converted 1/35 scale armor of varying sorts to fill all the needed roles and not a taurox to be seen. Since no one has any in my group, I need to get our and see some knights in person so that I can do some conversions to use on the table.

If I ever do pick one up I expect I will go with the gatling, fist and carapace krak missile pod. But like many others, I plan to magnetize. I just have too much to work on currently to drop coin on one.
