3 lists I'm thinking about for ITC.

List 1. Crazy 88 infiltration force
CAD
Lv1 diviner Libby (rides in pod#3)
2x 5 man camo sniper scouts obsec
2x 5 man CCW scouts, meltabombs obsec
Pod #1 5 man asm with two meltas and combi-melta
Pod #2 5 man asm with two meltas and combi-melta

Baal strike force
Lv2 jump pack diviner Libby with veritas vitae as warlord
3x 5 man jump DC with 1 fist each
4x 5 man CCW scouts, meltabombs
Pod#3 5 man asm with 2 meltas and double inferno pistol
Pod#4 5 man asm with 2 flamers and double hand flamer
Pod#5 5 man asm with 2 flamers and double hand flamer

Assassin
Culexus assassin

88 models, 25 units. Many infiltrating, deep striking, or outflanking into the face.
Upsides: MSU style list to counter low unit count/deathstar lists. Culexus can wreck psychic-powered stars. Could put up a real fight playing to the mission. Either goes first and tries to inflict a massive turn 2 wave of assault, or goes 2nd and uses reserves. Decent first blood potential with pods, highest unit cost is 140 for the new big game hunter bonus point, so that would probably be mine.
Downsides: easy for enemies to score "kill a unit" maelstrom points, purge the alien primay mission is hilariously one-sided.

List 2: BAdlance
Adalance with 2 paladins and an errant
Baal strike force
Jump chaplain warlord with veritas vitae
3x 5 man jump death co 1 fist each. (1 has a 6th man)
3x 5 man CCW scouts

Upsides: adalance. Reserves to have the BA come in after the lance has done some legwork, possibly charging in to free a knight from a tarpit if needed. Sometimes people just can't fit enough anti-armor in their list (or it gets killed by battle cannons) and knights end up going the distance.
Downsides: eldar with str D, even nerfed to d2 wounds if the FLG vote goes that way, is still brutal. People generally bring enough anti-armor to deal with adalance. The lance also can't spread out well, and will miss a lot of early maelstrom objectives other than "kill a unit."

List 3: karlaen's fury
Angel's fury
3 storm ravens with assault cannon/melta
3x 10 tac marine with meltabombs and free Telly homers

Baal strike force
Karlaen as warlord (reroll seize and reserves)
3x 5 man jump death co 1 fist each
5 man asm, meltabombs
2x 5 man camo sniper scouts

Upsides: plenty of air power, quick turn 2 massive assault with 8 units without giving opponent a turn to shoot at anything other than flyers. Karlaen can join a unit or be on his own to jump into something not too threatening like a vehicle.
Downsides: pseudo-loses 1/10 games automatically when ravens don't come in on t1. If the enemy can down two ravens in one turn, also probably a loss. (This could be mitigated by coming on in skimmer, having intercept fire out of range in movement, and then flat out-ing to them. The ravens will die, but the homer sarges should live, and would now have to be shot to death through 9 marines each.). Another list that doesn't really play to the mission. Also can be beaten by an army that splits up over the board.

Which one do you think I should go for?

Cool ideas, dc are extra tough with Astorath though.

I like using asty, but only with larger squads. I usually run him in lists where I have 2-3 8 man DC units.
In the crazy 88 list, he'd be the most expensive model, and I would want another hq because his auto-trait is lame. (And because I love double strategic with veritas vitae.) In karlaen's fury, I need rerollable reserves, and in the BAdlance, he's just a bit too 'spensive.

That makes sense. Have you used Karlen much? I've got him painted up pretty cool, but haven't played him yet.

I haven't really used him because it's rare that I have a spot for a termie captain in a list where I need reroll reserves and don't already have Dante for reroll air reserves and being 100% more awesome on the table.

One of the few times I could see bringing him is in an archangels force of terminators, which is not only a very tame list, but also comes with reroll reserves as part of the detachment bonus, making karlaen more likely to be "counts as standard termie captain."

I think that angel's fury list is the only list I've ever thought up where he actually fits, and that's only 'cause Dante + another hq is too 'spensive.

Sadly that one may be out of the running by default, due to the new lords of war status on knights. (As well as the questionable legality of adalance after the new codex.) Have to wait and see if the TO's make any special concessions for knights.

I finally tried out an Angel's Fury list last week and I've got really mixed feelings about it. I ran it with a BSF detachment with a Terminator Libby, two 5-man scout squads and 3x 6 Assault Terminators (4x LCs, 2x THs).

Bringing in 3x Storm Ravens on T1 was awesome. I5 on LC Terminators assaulting as soon as they arrived on the board was great, too (too bad I forgot the +1S for FC!). However, the lack of reserve manipulation for the BSF killed me. I had one Termie squad arrive T2, one on T3, and one on T4.

Frankly, I was also forgetting to Jink my Storm Ravens - but even still, they lasted long enough to get all three Termie units on the ground and into combat.

Next time, I'm gonna get my Tac Squads on the ground faster - I had two of them nearly destroyed when their Storm Ravens went down.

I like your Karlaen's Fury list - I think your choices mitigate some of the problems I had. Have you had much luck running any Angel's Fury lists other than this one?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

I haven't built one other than this one because of several factors:
A- I foresaw reserve manipulation being very important.
B- playing this outside of a tourney is not likely to make a fun game, results be damned. I'm probably gonna try a practice match or two soon with it though.
C- since tourneys tend to be 1850ish, I hadn't found a way to fit in both a reasonable amount of assault and rerollable reserves until now.

Okay, after a second game running Angel's Fury - this time with Karlaen and at 3000 points (so, theoretically a ton of room to play in addition to the required Angel's Fury formation), I'm pretty well convinced that the bonus of getting to assault after deep strike doesn't offset the tax you pay for the formation.

I'm interested to hear if your practice matches with it have gone better.

I've been practicing the crazy 88 list lately. Last game was against a tau aegis line with firebase formation tacked on.

(Yes, I even charged the snipers at them! Ended up winning with 9 models left to his 2 even after his dice went red hot and mine turned ice cold. Won on maelstrom, big game hunter and line breaker against his emperor's will and warlord kill. 6-5)
