Last two games (is that ok?)

New Eldar vs Deathwing - I got stomped 14-8 and only had 3 termies left but... wraithknight vs Deathwing knights is no contest. it died on turn two.

DA vs Chaos SM + Deamonkin. 5-3 to me with knights munching through all kinds of devil dogs and bloodthirsters before tarpitting Abadon.

Both good games with good sportsmanship and very funny moments (that's why I play!).

D weapons don't scare me now.

Never forgive, never remember!

Messed up on ATSKNF and the Trapped rule, so I should have wiped out a TWC and Sky claws units alot easier, but I failed to look up the rule in time, so lost the Relic and lost the match due to giving up First Blood and Warlord. My army was CSM VS the Space Pups.

Otherwise a fun fluffy characterful game.

I'm fairly new to 40k, care to ecplain what the Relic is? So far the 4 games I've played have all been just straight kill matches till someone concedes or is tabled.

The Relic is Eternal War mission number 6.

The Relic is placed in the center of the board, you grab it, you move it, you hold it for 3 VP at the end of the game.

My last game was great, lost to Daemons with my Marines, but I did run over be'lakor with my bikers after he crashed into the dirt from them shooting at him with twin linked boltguns, failed to stay airborn, took a hit on impact, couldn't roll a ward save and I crushed him with bikes. It was amazing. Otherwise, it was pretty okay, had some fun otherwise, but made some bad plays that cost me the game. It was pretty good overall.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

A 3v3 narrative game that had some cool ideas but ended up being hugely confusing and disjointed. I don't even know who won or what the victory criteria were. The one before that was my Guard vs some CSM where I took mainly tanks and won the attrition game using maelstrom rules. In that game I rammed a helbrute with my Baneblade, failed to kill it and died to it the following turn.

I played against Eldar with DE allies (including a Tantalus) with GK+SM allies at 1500. No superheavies, and modified D-weapons. Opponent conceded turn 4 when all he had left was 2 3-man bike squads and a squad of DE warriors, I still had a good chunk of my army. I won because I got lucky, and he was stupid.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

IIRC my last game was playing against the "Five Knight Challenge", i.e. 1500 points of knighty goodness..

I only had about 1200 points with me, and not at all optimised for killing super heavies, but IIRC I still managed to destroy 1 or 2 before getting tabled.

Was good fun!

Don't even have to hold it. It's an objective, so if you have ObSec you just have to be within 3" of a non ObSec enemy carrying it.

3rd game of 7th Edition played against a Red Scorpions player.

His force consisted of Loth, Culln and 8x Honour Guard in a Deathstar with Fire Raptor and 3x Tac Squads for support. My army was a CCB, 3x Wraiths, 2x 5 Immortals, 1x 15 Warriors, 2x Doom Scythes and a Culexus Assassin.

The Culexus was the best unit in the game by far. His Speculum didn't do much, only killed 1 HG, but he threw a Psyk-Out Grenade at the unit, scattered off Loth but the unit still suffers Perils. Loth failed his Ld7 test, died while also inflicting 4x S6 Ap1 hits on the unit, killing another 3x HG.

That blow was devestating and while the Assassin died in the end he swept up most of the unit in the process while my other guys took out the Tac Squads and held objectives. Due to unlucky reserve rolls the Fire Raptor didn't even make it into the game before he was tabled.

I never was a fan of the Culexus before but now I realise just how powerful he can be against the right opponent.

Took my Chaos Night Lords to a three round tournament this weekend. First round was against Imperial Fists with a knight. The knight pretty much stomped my entire army, but I manage to snag just enough objectives in the end to win by 1.

Second game was against SW and GK allies, where I got lucky on a few rolls, and my opponents luck just evaporated and he started failing a lot of look out sir rolls. My Oblits saved 3 instant death wounds with a 5+, and proceed to wipe a GK dread, command squad, and nearly a second dread in the following three turns, so I took a W.

Was the number 3 seed against a pretty nasty Ork list (Gargantuan Squiggoth, and Bruisa Boyz). Went in with a olan, had it working perfectly, whittle down his army by about 70%, left the squig alone and then started screwing up.
1)Let my bikers get trapped between a squiggoth and a Mega Nob command squad
2) Let a dreadclaw get charged by a Suiggoth
3) Got cocky, tried to charge my bikers and lord into his ork command squad, and failed the charge.

Last turn he charged me with Warboss, Mek, Painboy, and 5 Nobz. My lord rolled a 1 for the daemon weapon, and the squad proceeded to get shredded.

If only I'd stuck to my plan,,,, haha

My IG against his BA - 1000 points.
It was the escalating tactical objectives mission, with 1 card on turn 1, 2 on turn 2, etc.
We played until turn 5.
I had:
CCS with 2 PG in a flamer Chimera,
PCS on foot with a flamer and priest,
20-man infantry with a Lascannon each,
Demmo vets in a Chimera,
LRBT,
LRBT with Nova Cannon and 3x HBs.
Hellhound.

He had 3x drop pods, with,
Librarian,
Assault squad with Apoth (?),
Dreadnought with SB and HF,
Tacticals in a Rhino,
Vindi.

I was a point or 2 up until the very end. I lost 13/9, after I'd lost both tank and the PSC in assaults, and the vets.
We both forgot special powers, mine for my priest's hymns and his rage (or whatever).

Ended up being a silly battle were drop pod guys got wasted, my outflankers got wasted (all 12 stealth suits and shadowsun! *sniff). In the end there was mutual destruction, which for some reason after the points were added was a tie game. Fun times.

In my last game my Callidus assassin was definitely my MVP. She took out a company command squad in one round and next turn charged an Imperial Knight, I figured why not, she might hold it up while my hammernators moved into position. Well. She was not about to share any glory. In one round she scored 6 hits. Rolling one at a time, she scored 6 rends with her poison blades. Then I proceeded to roll 6 5+s to score 6 glancing hits and end the knight... which scattered back off the table leaving her unscathed. I did some math after the game... That charge was a 0.0000000025% chance of success. Best game in a long time.

My last game was 2000 points, my Necrons vs. my friend's Space Marines. He was using the Siege Vanguard list from Forgeworld with Ravenguard Tactics. It was the Scouring, and his list had a Stormraven, a squad of 2 preds with Autocannons and Heavy bolters, another pred with same loadout on it's own, a Whirlwind, a Vindicator, and a bunch of outflanking Tac squads in Rhinos, alongside his Vanguard Vets with Captain in the raven. I was using A standard Reclamation Legion with the Nightbringer and Deceiver, and a Judicator Battalion. He seized against me, and with Monster Hunter Preds, he killed the Deceiver turn one and blew up a few infantry with his death. After that, he was shot/assaulted off the board with most of my standard infantry, and failed to kill another unit entirely of the course of the game. And his backfield was destroyed by my 6 Tomb Blades (which killed 2 Preds, the Whirlwind, and the Vindicator).

This was his first game against Newcrons, and I tried to bring a casual list without being too good. Needless to say he won't play Newcrons ever again.

I honestly can't remember the last game I won...

I know the feeling. I mostly play in local tournaments since my variable work schedule doesn't allow me much time for casual games, and I have yet to actually win a tournament game (in 15 tournament games played!). Of course, this is partly because I play Dark Angels, and that is, as I've said before, like bringing a knife to a gunfight. The best I've done in a tournament game was a draw (vs. Orks). The only win I can recall was against a friend's Space Wolves, and he was running a pretty tame list, and even then I barely won.

To get back on topic, I was in a local tournament this past Saturday. Three of the worst games I've ever had (only because I was up against some tough lists, my opponents were all very cool people that I would be glad to play again). First I was up against the new Eldar, but I can hardly call that a complete game because we both played so slow that we only got through a couple of turns before we ran out of time (still not sure how that happened!). Second game, I was facing a Tyranid FMC list (2 flyrants, 2 harpies and a hive crone). 'Nuff said. Third game I was up against more Eldar, with Dark Eldar allies. I surrendered turn 4 because it was obvious I had completely lost (and we were almost out of time anyway). All my opponents told me that they had played for years before they won a tournament, so that made me feel a little better. For more details on these games and the opponent's lists (and my own), see this battle report: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/648013.page

After a decent hiatus from playing games (as my armies have been under construction on top of military duties) was finally able to play a fun game against my buddies Nids with my DKOK Tank Company. Definitely was refresher when it came to rules and tactics and overall a really fun game to play. It was Malestrom (one of the few games of it I have played) and I lost pretty badly when it came to points scored as the cards seemed to be in his favor this time around. However, he literally had only a few models left on the table where I had lost only two tanks and a few squads of veterans so had it not been Malestrom...

2k my Daemons (+Murder cult - 3 DS hellbrutes, + 2 hellcults) vs DA. My Geat Unclean One bubble wrapped by plaguebearers and then another layer of fearless cultists + their helbrute marched up the middle/slightly to the right and my soul grinders + other hellcult held the other flank. First turn summoned bloodletters next to objective near DA land raider and command bikes, effectively blocking their move. 2nd turn, deepstriked my hellcult behind enemy lines, then rolled a 6 on crazed table so they did nothing (must roll every turn with the murder pack/mayhem pack, I can't remember the name). The game turned into a slow grind from there, but I kept most of his army pinned. Ended up winning 11 to 10, but I had about 1/3 my army left and he was all but wiped.

Sorry you lost.

My last game was my a 1500 point team game (3k each side) with Tau and DA vs Necron and Eldar (new). It was an uphill struggle the whole way. The game started strong when I managed to get first blood and score some objectives in the Mealstrom mission (sacrificing two speeders in the process). Additionally, since the board was full of terrain it limited the Necron's movement forward as they had to stay away from the Eldar. Despite that handicap the necron managed to break towards the tau leaving them tied in combat. My devastator squad managed to score slay the Eldar warlord and my warlord (Ezekiel) was able to do some damage before dying to warp spiders. By turn 5 we were close to being tabled and called it again.

It was a hard fought game and I felt like each space marine was trying to sell his life as dearly as possible. If a WK or WG were there, I feel like it would've been a massacre. Also Necron are annoying as hell with the whole get back up on a 4.

Played 1500 points of my Tyranids vs 30k Word Bearers.

Lots of fun! I rushed forward in a big blob heading up the side of the board with the most objectives towards his side.

Weathered one round of crazy Whirwind barrages and took out that nonsense with a Flyrant. Ignored Val Gorbak the best I could, was scarry and deep struck in my back lines and started slaughtering stuff (Exocrine and Tervigon)

I just took out his scary guns (anything that did big damage during his 1st and 2nd shooting) and I just kept moving towards objectives.

Mawloc did nothing. Died to overwatch and krak grenades after scattering. :(

MVP: Single Zoanthrope weathering a ton of 3+ invuls, taking out a Fire Raptor (?) and holding down an objective.

LVP: Poor Venomthrope that might as well be modelled and painted as a large target.

Get your models on the table and looking good!

VS eldar being ally with DE. deployed in a corner around one objective. hid my tanks to get some cover. my opponent got first turn. his 4 units of jetbikes moved on 3 objectives. He killed a chimera, half a blob and his WK took a lucky shot and my paskinator team and killed then non Pask lemman russ. He used the capture objective card and destroy by shoting card.
on my turn I had to get out of cover to contest objective, killed two units of jetbikes and put I think 4 wounds on the WK. on his turn he deep struck 2 units of wrights killed my paskinator and command chimera. wiped almost two vet squads, then charged the last vet in melee. He played the dominate objective card, the destroy in melee card and capture an objective. on my turn I tried to kill the WK and the wrights, but didn't have enough fire power to do it. Knowing that he has 3 fresh cards and will be getting the warlord next turn I droped the game at the end of turn 2.

I'll add some details.

1850

My Tau army has an XV 104 and 109 as notable units. Just standard Tau army.

CSM Opponent. Lots of transports and a deamon prince that looks nasty. Mixed infantry forces with a predator, forgefiend, and chaos spawn.

On turn one I immobilized his forgefiend. He had deployed in a line so this started the chain reaction of having to go around. I also destroyed his lead transport further messing up his convoy.

First Blood Attained

Turn two I drive a devilfish in front of the city that has the Relic. This stops him from going in right away. Same turn I capture relic and get the Relic with a Firewarrior.

Turn 3.
Linebreaker attained as my first crisis team jumps in with fusion blasters. I didn't get the Plasma team out sadly.

I start moving the Relic further back.
Been killing stuff. His forgefiend, chaos spawn, and 95% of his cultists are gone.

I've only lost 2 Kroot, a Kroot Hound, and a my 3 XV8 with Fusions. I failed a nova reactor roll on my 109 and it suffers a wound.

Next turn I intend to lock on all of my marker lights on his HQ Deamon Prince and start unloading seeker missiles.

My last game was pretty sweet! I got a true pick up game, played an opponent I had never played before and didn't know (something I don't do often)
He had a gorgeous steel legion army, I had necrons.
He agreed to try out maelstrom, but with only one deck, we just pulled from the same deck, discarding objectives that were impossible.
1500pt, the second mission, where you generate cards for objectives held.
Game was really fun, but not much damage was caused, we both had a lot of vehicles, but he also had 4 or 5 units of 10, and I think 4 heavy weapons teams. My list was all vehicles save for 2x3 tomb blades and immortals. I had lychguard+overlord in nightscythe.
The defining turn was turn 4, where I disembarked my lychguard right in the middle of his army and they took every single shot from the army. Only the overlord and 1 lychguard survived, they didn't break, allowing them to charge the command squad and take slay the warlord, as well as keep line breaker. I was also able to contest an objective, and hold another objective, giving me twice his objectives, scoring D3 from that, 1 form a challenge, and 1 or two from objectives. It lopsided the points to my favor quite a bit and we called it. If my warlord unit had died, or ran, he probably would have won.
