Subject: Good deal or bad deal?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, I'm not a veteran forum poster!
I'm just starting the hobby and have been inspired to go for an Iyanden Eldar list (lots of wraiths in a CAD with a couple of cheaps Windrider units for troop choices).
All I have right now is the new Craftworld codex and data cards.
I've been offered a deal including the following for £140 (UK sterling) cash:
1 Wraithknight
20 Wraithguard
1 Spiritseer
1 carry case (big enough for all models with foam cut to shape inside)
6th edition codex (will recycle)
Iyanden codex (will read for fluff)
Old eldar codex (as above)
All models have been assembled well and nicely base coated white.
I'm not overly fussed that pre-assembly locks down my weapon options etc. since I'll be playing with people that don't mind if the models/lists accurately reflect one another.
Would hugely appreciate the input of veteran GW purchasers/players to ensure I'm getting a good deal here. Initial research suggests that I am!
Thanks in advance!

That's a pretty good deal. I'd be more than comfortable taking that.

Not a bad deal, if you want to do Eldar and the paint was not to thickly sprayed on

OK that's great to hear, I've no idea to be honest but pricing up just the models I cannot get it cheaper than £142.50.
Add to that what I'm saving with all the other stuff and it seems great....

Really only the other thing usable besides the model is a carry case. I'd say its a decent deal, but the codices don't really add much to it.

Just be aware you may not be able to play your army much at all until next codex release, depending on your group.

This is a pretty good point. With all the hate out there right now for the wraithknight and the wraithguard D weapons, you might not find your friends too enthusiastic to play against them. But it sounds like you are playing with friends., so ask if you can use the guard as proxies for other units, or even just use the 6th edtion rules (which you will have ) for both the guard and knight.

Exacally. I have an Iyanden themed army and it has been pretty much shelved except for tournaments. Your list will have 22+ str d hits, which is crazy powerful now.

Surely if I set it up in a CAD with the Wraith host formation then opponents cannot really complain? It is absolutely legal...
Planning to go with a Skyrunner Farseer/second Spiritseer, two units of Windriders, the formation (spiritseer, 3 wraithguard units, wraithlord, wraithknight) and perhaps a couple of Wave serpents to speed up the delivery of the wraithguards.

Heh Totally legal, you just will have a hard time finding people who will play

Well if it's legal I'll be arguing my corner!
From watching my local club, I've seen some pretty heinous Tau and Necron lists. Don't see why a legal Eldar list should be singled out!

Will have to negotiate before every friendly game what you should and shouldn't bring or how should you homerule your stuff to not be as broken as GW ruled it out.
On the other hand, you could limit yourself and avoid bringing transports and allies, for example. In other words, don't utilise your strengths for full potential. This way you could find more games after some negotiations. People are just very suspecious towards eldar players now, you know. You're bringing a gun, so they want to make sure you won't be using it in a knife fight.
Or it might not matter if you're aiming for a cutthroat meta and competitive tournaments where you don't need to worry about the 'fairness' and 'fun' aspect of the game.

The trouble is that even heinous Tau and Necron lists are more fun to face than Heinous eldar lists: they're easier to beat!
Add in some jetbikespam and witness people struggle not to try make you eat your models
But that is a very good deal though (although I'd probably refuse to play your army, or get tabled by turn 2 with my 2000pts (casual) lists).

Sad to read about how this would be frowned upon by other players even though it is legal. From someone new to the hobby who just followed the process of:
1. Those eldar models are cool
2. Wow, Iyanden has some nice fluff
3. Oh! a new codex is out
4. There's a great deal for Wraith models

It's hard to tell what GW was actually thinking about when they released eldar and crons.
Eldar, Tau and Daemons broke 6-th edition but later on, the releases were good until crons and...eldar again. Eldar have been very strong in 3-d, broken in 4-th, ok in 5-th, broken in 6-th and broken in 7-th once again. So, you should understand why people don't always have good attitude to eldar.
You can still run nice more-or-less friendly lists using this models. Just need to restrict yourself from using the whole broken potential of your book. It's a game after all.

Yeah your list is legal, but with the new codex a SINGLE wraithguard model, not even a single unit, a single MODEL can instantly kill a superheavy lord of wars in one hit, no saves allowed.

Why not just go for it?
The models are cool, and if you and your gaming mates find that the battles are too unbalanced and not fun, you can easily adjust the D-strenght table until you find the right balance that provides fun matches for both parties.

Oh, I absolutely love the design of the eldar models, way back in 2nd edition I used to have a small army of eldar. And I always thought the stories behind them where pretty cool. But the 7th edition codex made some rather drastic increases in their power, and they were already a strong army. So a lot of people are pretty upset.

I wouldn't worry about the whole "nobody will play with me" thing, man. Just don't go crazy on scatter bikes and don't go buy a bunch more wraithknights; take some aspect warriors and some other interesting stuff, and you'll be fine. I suggest that you look at a Warhost, with a Wraith Host formation; you'll need 1 Wraithlord, plus the models for whatever core detachment you choose.
It's a good deal. And nothing wrong with the Iyanden codex; it's a fantastic book; your army can effectively be Iyanden (without using the supplement). Get yourself a 7e codex, and one of the paperback 7e wee rulebooks, and you're set!

If he buys a couple wave serpents depending on the army and deployment he can be in range in 1-2 turns. vs horde armies I dont see a problem but vs elite and mech armies hes going to get a lot of death-stares from across the table.

Wave serpents still mean you can get wherever you want without a need to worry about being killed beforehand. For even cheaper.
