I'm thinking belakor, a pair of invisible bloodthirsters with the D weapon. Khorne hounds rushing Ruth blood crushers. Deepstriking blood letters and a soul grinder running sbout. Maybe not tourney winning but could be solid I think.

Incorrect - they are just misunderstood. It's not their fault that your blood and your skull are located inside your body, meaning they have to removed from your body in order to be given to Khorne.

The Str.D Bloodthirster is overrated... the Wrath of Khorne one is a much better buy as he brings added flexibility with his various abilities and can take care of pretty much anything short of a tooled up Gargantuan Creature.
Large unit(s) of Khorne Dogs led by Jugger Heralds w/Axe of Khorne + Locus of Wrath are capable of destroying most units they hit.
A unit of Bloodcrushers led by Karanak will give them the ability to Scout. Turns them into a solid threat, and again, just give the unit champ an Axe of Khorne for some ap2 swings. Plus they're your best source of fast Icons for Deep Striking in the likes of Bloodletters and/or a Prince.
Also, don't forget about your Instruments on your Bloodletters - not only can they help out when Khorne shows up and throws crap about the battlefield, but more importantly, they're dead useful for making use of our chain Deep Striking abilities!
I'd honestly cheat on the Soul Grinder and give it either Nurgle or Tzeentch... the Khorne upgrade is pretty much useless.
Going Nurgle allows you to sit in cover and just bombard your enemy with pie-plates, while marked Tzeentch is better off using the torrent shot and moving up in support with the rest of your forces.
Don't neglect the Skull Cannon either! They have the range to sit back and lob their shots from your rear lines, forcing your opponent to split off part of their forces to deal with them. (or waste their long range heavies they're likely rather be pointing at your big, scary monsters!)
Plus their ability to grant an Offensive Grenades buff against enemy units in cover can't be scoffed at with a purely assault based army.

The bloodthirster with the D weapon sounds awesome with invisibility. I would take the ability to handle Knights and gargantuan creatures over have a 1 lash shot ...
Also gives you utility against land raiders too.

exactly, they're kinda like puppies. they're just aiming to please.
to the OP, there are probably stronger daemon builds, but i ran a full khorne list out of the chaos daemons codex and had one of the most fun games i've played this edition. i also run a mixed tzeentch/khorne list quite often. (the khorne section is usually just hounds and a herald, but sometimes the wrath-thirster sneaks his way in).
i also run into a lot of MEQ, and surprise bloodletter summons are quite fun.

They seem to be doing just fine in casual games. Our local khorne guy takes minimum sized squads with the formation that gives you a blood point for having those squads die. He can throw his stuff at the enemy with enough reckless abandon that he does decent damage (especially against marines), and each loss means he gets even more blood points to buff things or summon letters/thirsters with.
When you win, it's fun. When you lose, it's fun! It actually looks really well made for friendly games and is a refreshingly unique mechanic that makes even losing at least a little fun.
|
ATTENTION. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

You're thinking of the basic Bloodthirster of Unfettered Fury. The Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster - which incidently is the strongest of the lot, gives you;
- A Heavy Flamer shot w/added Soul Blaze, AND, an upgraded Bloodflail that's D3 shots + is also a Specialist Weapon for +1A in assaults.
- Adamantium Will
- Hatred: Characters
Plus he still comes stock with an Axe of Khorne for access to Instant Death attacks on a 6 to-wound, which still gives him utility against GC's.
With Invis up, he'll still HP Knights to death with impunity, especially if you give him the Eternal Beatstick + 1-2 Lesser rolls with the aim of landing Cleaving Strike.

Good to note.
I bought the new bloodthirster kit, but have a balrog model I'm planning on using as a second bloodthirster. I modeled te new kit holding the D weapon as I like the idea of an invisible D slapping bloodthirster. I'll prob one with the whip, and one with the D.
I would be taking them out of the daemons book most likely, so I'm not sure if the new daemon kin codex has different rewards or not.

Daemonkin is an inferior list for Daemon-heavy lists... You lose out on a lot of the synergies of the Daemon Codex for what basically amounts to Fearless, the Blood Tithe and much more expensive Relics.
What Daemonkin is good for is running an MSU CSM list with Daemonic support. For a purely allied force, I'd probably still go for the basic CSM codex simply because an AoBF Jugger Lord is such a fantastic beatstick!

Yeah but they don't have access to daemonic rewards and the support from the other god's daemon units.

Everything has a way to counter. Don't rely on Invisibility too much. Besides, Khorne hates psyker. It displeases him that one of his Bloodthirster is benefiting from sorcery.

But belakor Bears all 4 marks of chaos, including khorne, and is a psyker.
Plus I'm sure the blood shed from a D slapping bloodthirster will make him happy.
