Subject: The I paint your model and borrow it for a while thread!
Haha, yeah that makes sense. I will jump onboard then. I'll post a picture of one of my finished Tau and a Black Templar models and see what I have available for painting when I get home from work to see if anyone is interested.

I think it would be better to have a "sunshine battalion" in an imperial guard force because orks have no male or female
There was an ork 'cheerleader' model for blood bowl iirc but i think that was intended as a humourous hint at the ork's attitude to order in the game "they 'az wun, so we'z gotta 'ave wun!" so of course some boyz ended upo in cheerleader outfits...
The 'sunshine regiment' is now on my list of amazing themes for an IG army alongside the Tallarn 'taliban' army and the steel legion/DKoK/mordian 'nazi' force.
I feel i should back up 'buttery commissar' on the language thing - i don't like the idea that someone who is young/naive may see the derogetary side of the meaning and then go on from there believing that is an acceptable way of viewing other people - I personally subscribe to the 'gunnery seargent hartman' view on the worth of a human life...
I don't think it's a great example as the seargent's character clearly disparages homosexual people later on in that scene, but the concept of equal worthlessness is pretty compelling.

No worries, either of you. It's easy to forget that writing words is no replacement for speaking them.
For the record, kb and I just have an ongoing laugh about my inability to paint anything a sensible shade. Partly because I'm colourblind and partly because every time I go near something my weirdness leaks out and it ends up pretty... Pretty.
Even my foray into a stern and angry Mordian Iron Guard has gone terribly wrong this week because I gave them all pink and white trousers by accident. I'm not even surprised any more.
Just so I am clear, I'm not mad at all, just didn't want to be misconstrued over some pretty average jokes - they weren't really pertinent to the thread either, so I dropped them.
Also, looking these pictures I posted, man it looks terrible - there are a lot of mould lines that didn't show up in the black primer, I'll rip a few out when I am doing the touch ups - then it's onto the oil wash.

I have an infestation of them, more than I could ever put squads together for (which is saying a lot, coming from me), so sending them off for an adventure could be pretty fun.
Only limitation is they need to have white featuring on their uniform somewhere. Hat, jacket, braiding, I don't mind.
Actually kb, I was gonna trust you with the pants-on-head insane lieutenant if you'd be interested. It's like a commissar but his sash is made from bullets that have no bearing on his weapon. Also his boots have ribbons on them.
Ustrello, fancy doing a sergeant? I realise they're not super thrillsy.

Also, SirDonlad, have you shipped those Devs yet?
Yup! It might've been quicker to put the parts in a bottle and throw it into the bristol channel by the sounds of things!

BC - Ustrello paints better than I do, but I do consider myself rather pants-on-head insane so I am flattered (and insanely angry) at your offer. So yeah, send him to me with the horde, or early, or not, whatever yo

Buttery, I would be honored if you or anyone else would let me paint a mini. I have to move in to my new house first though, catch up on project for a friend and paint a small detachment for Git and Solar. By then I should have some decent gallery pics.
I tend to paint the Sergeants in that pattern uniform in USMC dress blue colors though. And Ust, would you be against taking one of my FW or OOP marine and painting him in Dusk Raider colors for me next time you do a squad? I don't care how long it would take, as it'd just be a tactical Marine with an =I= symbol for my Sternguard. Let me know, I really like your HH stuff.
If anybody would be interested and wants to work on their airbrush skills I have 8 Drop pods that I want to get base colors on and yellow black safety makings on the fins. If you are up to the task then let me know.

Okay that's a crazy-eyes leitenant for kb, sergeant for Ustrello and one earmarked for Stormwall. I'll see how many of the beggars I end up with spare. I can't pull a kb and set up a Dakka-painted regiment, but as each of my squads has a white + single colour theme, I would then match the 9 infantry to the strongest colour in the Sergeants you guys do.
Stormwall wrote: I tend to paint the Sergeants in that pattern uniform in USMC dress blue colors though.
No worries, just give him white roping or a white section to his hat. Or if I give you one with a chainsword, maybe that could have white striping? S'all good.
It's funny you mention the USMC uniform. I actually have a heavily modified one hanging in my front room that I adapted into a Mordian jacket. I got some serious abusive gak from several different people for doing so, for two different reasons, so it's sort of broken my heart a little bit. I don't know what to do with the blasted thing now.
I'm a sub-par painter myself, but I do some interesting conversion work when the fancy/scotch strikes me.
I have numerous Tau, Ork, and IG models that have been resigned to being grey through lack of painting time. I also have some DA/SM.
The Tau and IG have a pretty specific themes I'm working with on each of them, but if someone wants work on them, that'd be awesome. There are a few XV8s, plenty of Firewarriors, all the drones you could ever want to paint, and a few metal Pathfhinders. The IG have a squad of converted Ratlings that are begging for a much better painter than I and won't really need to be painted like the rest of my army, being filthy abhuman critters. Plenty of Guardsmen, but they are currently headless. Also they will need glowing neck holes for when I put skulls in them.
There is also a Sentinel being overrun by Kroot that I will never be able to paint to do it justice, so I am not concerned about specific painting scheme (doesn't need to match my army). If someone is interested I can put "Epic Sentinel" to the front of my converting queue. It mostly just needs touch filing/sanding, a little bit of green stuff, and basing. Though the basing could easily be done after painting. If that sounds interesting let me know.
The Orks are fair game. Want to paint a squad of Kanz, or a dozen boys or so? Maybe a trukk? Let me know. I would actually like if if they were a mix-match of themes, because you know, theys orks. Also, you know, I will never be able to paint all of these orks. Seriously, the Evil IG and Tau are already to much of a project.
The DA/SM models will eventually be used for a Fallen chapter of DA. I've got a pretty good handle on how I'm going to do most of them, black with a red nose stripe and other accents. BUT I will be doing some conversion work for a few of the higher ups, will post more when they are in the pipe. HOPEFULLY they will be perfect for some expert painter wanting to show off their chops.
Epic Sentinel seems to have been damaged in storage. Here are the Ratlings though. Sorry about the terrible pictures.

Yep that's right, guess I should have posted that I had received it in here too. It is next up in the painting pile, just making progress on this months Challenge entry before I jump on it.
