So... when you say Group shot, do you mean your entire army, cause I wanna see an entire collection model shot sometime dude. You must have a monster army by now.

I really like the black cultists you painted with the bright green glowing bits. Wish Dakka had a way to reply to earlier posts (and there probably is a way but i suck at figuring stuff like that out).

I make that request all the time too, it is an absolutely massive army of custom chaos-y goodness. I think KernelTerror means the full Dark Eldar army for the tournament that was just finished. I could be wrong though.

@Sennacherib: It is planned yeah, but on this occasion I just meant the two armies. I did promise a full army shot once I complete the titan, which should happen before christmas I hope ? Also, you can use the quote button to include part of a post in your reply, just edit out what you want to remove. The black skinned ones are alternates for dark eldar mandrakes though, not cultists, but true, they do look chaosy, and I definitely intent to reuse their bits in chaos models.

Pretty soon you will have to set your chaos army up outside and have to take the photo out of a second floor window

Allright, back from the tournament ! We had a great time, people were great, armies beautiful, beer tasty and the tables well prepared.

We did get smashed though, since have zero experience in competitive play, we ended up ranked 16/17, with two draws and two defeats.

I did however win second place in painting, so that was pretty nice, and getting first was a close call.

Hey man. The dark eldar skin. You said you used black oil on it. Are you using an oil wash with black oil paint and then using a Q tip with mineral spirits to remove it from the high points?

Absolutely, the base was some acrylic dark grey, then black oil thinned just enough to apply thinly, but remain opaque.
It is then a matter of how long to wait before starting the removal. Iirc for these mandrakes it was around two hours, but my thinner does tend to dry very very slowly.
I do not necessarily use mineral spirit or thinner for removal, I usually start with just the Q tip and only add the spirit if the contrast I am getting it not satisfactory. In this case, iirc, the quality of the sculpt made it easy to remove the black from the muscles and other areas, plus the underlying area was not that vivid, so spirit was not necessary.

Allright, finished the shoulder plates on the titan, on to the guns now !

Windsor Newton is great, this is what I use for such washes. Also had some great results with Lefranc Bourgeois, for some very powerfull/vibrant colors (purple, blue and red especially).

Thought about it, but no, it will mostly be a nose, like plague doctor mask thing. And many little eyes on top. Also mechanic tongue, and by request of my son, one more eye on the tongue.

EDIT: To clarify, the big white sphere is a ball joint to fit the neck hole in the titan's torso

Nice to see a KernelTerror scratch built after a long time. That snout head is looking promising as is the whole titan so far
