What exactly is causing you trouble? They're not particularly tough units

#Lictorshame was the winning Tyranid list at two major events recently. It has more to do with the player using it than the units themselves, though the units aren't slouches either. But OP, without being specific, how is anyone going to help you? It's a skill based list that lives or dies by what the player does.

A list that uses Mawlocs and Lictors for expensive Locator Beacons.

My advice is Servo Skulls.

Ahhhhhh, this is the name of the formation I fought last Sat.

Last weekend I faced an opponent fielding:

- 2 Flying Hive Tyran
- 3 lictors as elits
- 2 swarms as troop choice
- 3 Mawlocs
- Formation with 5 squad of Genstiler
- Formation with 5 Lictors including the special one (forgot the name sorry).
- 3 Mucolid Spore Cluster

I was not even aware that it was a "competitive" list.

The thing is that I play SoB and plenty of Flamers and Melta Guns / MM.
In addition, I field Karamazov.

All my Immolator, troops and Dominion combined make a total of 12 Melta and 6 flamers/HF.

Each turn 3 to 4 lictors were instant kill. The genestiler did not last long agains all the flamers. I got lucky with the special lictor trying to charge Karamazov and got MM snap shot between the eyes.

Mythic moment was when 3 group of genestiler charged a single square of girls, 1 survives, and used Karamazov special rule to drop Ordonance 3 large blast Str 6 Ap 4 on the 15 guys and see them crying.

I table him on turn 4 with a sister list I do not even consider semi-competitive.

The lictor shame list is just a very msu army. its has about 23 units, and if your playing one of many tourhament armies that can only target 1-3 units a turn, you will not do well against it. Especially as it is fairly durable with lictors gtg cover save.

There are not many MSU armies out there at the moment in the tournament scene, be that because of list building restrictions "power combo deathstars" that still function similar to 6th when they should not in 7th...or people usually do not want to travel with a large number of models. So lictor shame does well because of that.

Yep. A lot of people feel that that's the same reason Nick's ImpFist/Blood Angels list did so well also. MSU is very counter-meta to death-stars and Knight lists.

Wow. Someone at my FLGS has been playing a MSU list with Flyrants, 6 Lictors and 3 Mawlocs for some time. Was unaware it had become a thing.

I know it has faired well against power armor armies and Tau but had trouble with AM and Orks. No real insights here except that MSU is only really countered by MSU.

I'm starting to think the best counter is MSU. Tho I've seen a lot of good army's lose due to the player using it was a poor general, so in regards to the point on "the army is only as good as the player using it" I totally agree. I've won a lot of events by just out playing my opponents. This post was to try and get some insight on the list that a lot of people call "unbeatable" since it was a very outside the box list, it's been hard trying to find a good way to play against it (not saying I would beat it) but when you understand a list, you won't make as many or if any tactical errors

You still need to give us info on:
what hes running
what you're running
what points
what missions
what your specific troubles are
.
Otherwise we're pissing into the wind.

@ratius it's 1500pt and as for the lists I can't really pick a list because while the list might be good at dealing with the lictor list I need to make sure I can deal with other army's as well.
I think the list he's bringing is
2 flying tyrants (maybe 3)
6 lictors
3 mawlocks
9 spore mines
3 big spore mines
And some ripperswarms.

Short Answer: Play for objectives, this list is built to out play the opponent for objectives and precise target large footprint deathstars.

The spore mines and Muscloids are there to try and control movement/waste shooting for a turn or two. Primary offensive firepower is the flyrants, with AP2 large blast support from the 3 mawlocs. Lictors split duty between guiding Mawlocs, dropping leader ship, and snagging objectives. Rippers just camp objectives and stay out of LOS.
