The BBC is a rather mad organisation, not wait panam, the capital, oops typo.
May the odds ever be in your favour.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

No argument there.
Though as a nitpick, 1, 11, 72, 73m 90 and 99 now exist, and are also garbage Automatically Appended Next Post: Paradigm wrote:What I think should be absolutely condemned is the premise of the programme. Ask yourself, why have low income as a qualifier for applying? Is it because 'they're unemployed, so have nothing better to do'? Is it to prove that the little poor people can be useful after all? Because that prize money could turn their lives around (it can't)? Or just because God forbid the rich should ever have to 'prove themselves'? (I mean, they're rich, so they must be important, right?)
I don't think it's completely unthinkable to assume that they might be looking to improve the skills and therefore employability of people who haven't been able to find work. It'd be a bit of a nonsense to open that kind of show up to people who already have jobs.
Now, that kind of show can be handled well, or it can be handled very badly. And it might not even be that kind of show, it might be some really exploitative crap. But you can't just assume it's exploitative in it's very nature.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

The entire series was pretty compelling. The second episode really hits home for me on this particular topic more than the first one though, but I do see your point.

Ehh to me, the second was more about how we are endlessly working towards a goal that just feeds our want for stupid entertainment, while forsaking things real.
The ending though, that ending will stay with me for along time. Why did they give him a spot to rant if it is harmful? Because you need public detractors for the masses to watch, that way they can agree, feel like they have the same feelings, then go about their business.

Seen as snobbish and elitist in their programming the are desired to produce more popular material, then come under fire for deviation from the Reithian principles.
In this case it is a BBC 2 programme so it is' nt going to be populist. I suggest we wait and see what it actually consist of before condemng it.
This is nothing. Come to me when they put on a BBC version of the horrific (and evidently full of criminal) 16 and counting about the religious wackjob family that keeps pumping 'em out (the Duggars). Or maybe you might like a little Honey Boo Boo.
