Well the title is pretty self explanatory, I'm looking to start an Inquisitor as allies and was looking who has the most badass rules, Been looking at Hector rex or solmon but they haven't had an FAQ since 6th gen it seems.

So who should I take and why?

Cheers

Depends on what you're allying it with and what kind of role you want your Inquisitor to have with whatever unit you have him attached to.

For competitive play, my vote goes with Coteaz. For 100pts ML 2 divination access, increased seize odds and more importantly protection against being seized on, and I've been expecting you against reserve armies - so much value.

Order xenos w/ rad grenades, possibly psychotrokes and the liber for scout is good in a unit you intend to get into combat.

Thing is: 350 may be too many points to fill. Consider

Coteaz - 100pts

OXI, ML1, Power Armour, Rad, Psychotroke, Liber Hersius, 3x Servo Skulls - 117pts

Accolyte, Accolyte, Psyker - 18pts
Accolyte, Accolyte, Psyker - 18pts
Accolyte, Accolyte, Psyker - 18pts

Totals only 271 Points
- 6 Warp Dice
-2 Stubborn characters to buff squads.
-All the gear one would want

Really, these allies would really be great in a blob guard army, not sure about mech guard.

FWIW, Hector Rex doesn't need a FAQ, because he's been updated by the newest FW book. Its a compilation of all the "Siege of Vraks" books, and it also includes the newest DKoK army list, a Vraks-centric Heretics & Renegades list, plus new CSM formations (again, Vraks-themed) and unit updates for the other characters featured (Zhufor, Rex, and the greater daemons, among others)

Slightly more on topic, Hector Rex is indeed the best, if only because he has possibly the coolest terminator sized model in the whole game.

Either Coteaz or that Russian dude. The Russian dude is even MORE pieplates and Coteaz has more passive benefits.

Inquisitors are good because they are so cheap - I certainly wouldn't be looking to try and fill 350pts on an Inquisitor. Some good options imo:

Coteaz - As suggested, 100pts for a 2+ Armour Save, ML2 Psyker, Nemesis Demon Hammer, Seize the Initiative protection, and a pseudo-Interceptor ability that lets everyone in his unit Intercept within 12".

Karamazov - Expensive at 200pts, but can drop Orbital Strikes all game long. The D3 S6 AP4 Large Blasts will wreck hordes, the S10 AP1 Lance Blast will wreck vehicles. Assuming you dont' get hosed by scatter. Fortunately you can deliberately target friendly models for a scatterless strike The Psyk-Out Bomb is novelty against Psykers I guess?

Ordo Malleus "Psygunner" - Terminator Armour and Psycannon with Psybolts for 85pts. Chuck him in a Gunline unit to tank some shots for those squishy guardsmen, whilst still throwing out S8 Rending Dakka himself.

Ordo Malleus "Sniper" - 48pts gets you Power Armour and a Hellrifle (36" S6 AP3 Rending). Perfect complement to a 3 Plasma Cannon Servitor Henchmen squad with Chimera for 160pts (Inquisition still use the old-school Chimera's which let you fire 5 models out of the hatch).

Ordo Xenos "Grenadier" - 63pts for Power Armour, Rad Grenades, Psychotroke Grenades and the Psyk-Out Grenades they come standard with. Attach to the Close Combat squad of your choice and laugh as you make the enemy -1T, make Psykers go at I1 and give a random debilitating effect from the Psychotroke table on the first turn of combat. Flavour with Psyker and Ranged/Melee weapons to taste. Would be pretty sweet in a Conscript Blob with Priest.

Ordo Xenos "Ima chargin mah lazor" - 78pts for Power Armour and Conversion Beamer. Really needs the 42"+ for the S10 AP1 Blast, but a S6 Blast up to 18" and a S8 AP4 blast between 18 and 42" is still not bad.

Ordo Hereticus "Deny the Witch" - 58pts for Power Armour and a Psyocculum. The unit is now BS10 (!) against Psykers. Hilarious with BS3 Guardsmen in a Gunline Blob. Of course utterly useless against non-psykers, but can be very good against Grey Knights, Eldar, Demons etc. Can also give a Null Rod for 25pts to make the unit unable to be targeted by Psychic Powers (both enemy and friendly).

Definitely the Ordo Xenos guy with Rad Grenades and the relic that allows you to scout. It's hard to get a larger force multiplier for that price. The only drawback is he only moves 6" so if your assault units are bikes or jump units he won't keep up for long.

Fortunately inquisition comes with land raiders full of DCAs and Crusaders. Typically when someone declares something unkillable, I run the mental exercise of: how would this fare against 6 DCAs, 4 Crusaders, 2 Priests, and an Ordo Xenos guy with Rad Grenades. If the answer is it would win, I become worried :(
