Welcome to our kickstarter for the 15mm Marine Tactical Unit. Taken from within our Shattered Void Universe that we have spent 3 years developing and building on. While we are working on Shattered Void, a fast-paced space dog fighting game, We wanted to explore some other areas of the universe and with what better way but some ground forces? So your first question comes to mind.....



The Marine Tactical Unit are the frontline soldiers of the Earth Exploration Fleet in the Shattered Void universe which we at White Dragon Miniatures are currently creating.

The Marines are the true boots on the ground, working with modern tech and trained in advance warfare for FIBUA (fighting in built up areas) and ship boarding actions. They operate in small teams of 6 men per section, and 18 men in a multiple. They are able to quickly improvise, adapt and overcome whatever the task issued.

Each Multiple of marines are assigned an Armadillo Support Bot, able to carry heavy equipment without effort and also carrying one of 3 support guns (Chain cannon, Grenade Launcher and Missile Launcher). It also features a large armoured plate on one side, able to protect soldiers using it as cover in exposed areas. The armoured plate features a reactive armour shield while the Armadillo provides the squad much needed covering fire with their choice of weapon turret and finally as a resupply and communications hub.

Finally the Proteus Frontline Battle Mech is one of the main spearhead unit available to the MTU forces. Carrying huge calibre weapons in its arms and thick armour that can with stand some severe punishment, they march across the battlefield bringing destruction and ruin to their opposition.







Based on past experience (of us and others), we will be charging shipping after the Kickstarter concludes based on the actual costs incurred to ship. We will collect this via our pledge manager after the campaign ends. This is so we can be fair to all our backers (shipping is rarely one size fits all). As a rough estimate, the pledges will cost about £4 within the UK, £5 within Europe and between £6-8 elsewhere (for a 1kg parcel), but this may increase or decrease depending on the quantity of stretch goals we unlock and your choices. We at White Dragon Miniatures wish to bring our exciting new 15mm sci-fi range into production but we need your help to do it! The aim of this Kickstarter is to allow the highly anticipated Earth Exploration Fleet Marine Tactical Unit (EEF MTU) to hot-drop onto your table top battlefields. The EEF MTU range is composed of 18 individual infantry miniatures, 1 Armadillo Support Bot and the mighty Proteus Frontline Battle Mech.


(added note, White Dragon Miniatures is part of the British Indie (Brindie) group of companies that includes JoeK Miniatures, Arcworlde and Infamy Miniatures so have been involved in the background of several KS projects that have either delivered or look to be delivering successfully)

I really like the look of these. Makes 15mm almost tempting as a scale.

This interests me greatly. I will back it for sure. The figures look great, but I'm not enamored with the posing of the mech. I saw some hints in the comments that there'll be alternate loadouts at some point. A little surprised at the lack of stretch goals though.

One thing I'd like to know though, is what size base the mech will be on.

Absolutely smashed... and we are gobsmacked - Thank you everybody for making our range of Soldiers a reality! So soon after launch too, unexpected to say the least!

So, where do we go from here?

The first of our planned stretchgoals is an alternative pose and new weapon for the Proteus Mech.

While the original beast was armed with a large calibre cannon, the next weapon in the Proteus' armoury is the railgun. Below is the initial concept art for the Proteus Mech with Railgun but as we all continue to march towards our next goal of £4000, we will show the actual design of the chap!

Again, this is not the same mech with a different weapon! He is in a completely different stance.

Any pledge that allows you to pick the Proteus Mech (or multiple) or if you purchase an additional Proteus, you will be allowed to choose which version(s) you would like.

also from the comments they have just got the first resins of the Proteus (which is 68mm high) and will posting images including at least one 28mm mini to give an idea of scale for those interested in them as stompy robots at that scale rather than giant mechs at 15mm

I like the art for the Proteus, but the renders don't look so good. Too boxy and static. Maybe the second will look better.

Looks good, but the mech feet are tiny! Doesn't seem like a good idea for stability, unless he's a ballerina mech.

looks like a nice simple kit for the Proteus.

Next Stretch goal is up on the kickstarter. Its a freebie squad for everyone backing at Corporal level and above.

I can see the similarities between his and Aaron Beck's designs. I actually think this much closer to stepping on the toes of artists like StTheo and MeganeRid. I think its just symptomatic of trying to own the near future hard-sf aesthetic. Everyone who puts the time in on the research pouring over contemporary media, journal articles and DARPA project tenders is going to end up with crossover in their end product because they are working on their interpretation of exactly the same subject material.

^Pretty much this. AB, StTheo and maybe a little Shimmering-Sword, it's the plausible utilitarian cyborg aesthetic like the robo-troops in Titanfall. Of which kind of harks back to early dehumanized cyberpunk characters like Briareos from Appleseed.

I like the amount of detail on those 15mm troops.

I can see those points. I do like the style of these. I'd consider fielding them as an alternate Deadzone enforcer group.

Tango Down! Goal Reached! Third Stretch goal!

Evening one and all!

What can we say? We've smashed through the £5,000 stretch goal on day 4 of our little campaign. Both of us here at WDM can safely say we weren't expecting this at all by a long shot!

So, we've been beavering away behind the scenes sorting out bits and pieces to hopefully bring some awesome new gadgets to the table for you guys. The Proteus with Railgun is currently being finalised so we'll be posting some pictures of it as soon as it is ready for you all to look over!

The third stretch goal at £6,500 is that of the Talos Exo-Suit squad. There will be three weapon options for these guys which consist of a standard large calibre rifle, a grenade launcher and finally a flame thrower.

Those gifted with eagle-eyes may have already spotted a small easter egg of this chap in the main concept art. Look to the top left of the main art piece, see him? Yeah, thought so. (If not, we've attached a cropped picture of him for easy recognition!)

Should we smash through this stretch goal we've got even bigger plans for the next 2 stretch goals - You'll be absolutely blown away!

Stretch goal for £10,000 they were not lying when they said this update would get us excited Doing the Fiddler for only £20 a model in 15mm is dam good pricing.

Orlando should probably update the thread title to include the bit about the Fiddler.

I love that thing's design. I felt that the old 1/35 garage kit was just a bit too big. This one will clock in at 55mm, they said, so it might actually not look too bsd hanging out with my Infinity stuff. The next stretch is also another mech, this time a pair of 30mm humanoid types that look like a leaner version of the Proteus. Since they confirmed that we'll be able to add on during the pledge manager, I'll be throwing down some more money.

Already backed at Corporal level with some additional funds. I might add some more later on.

Also, the renders might be boxy, but the recent showing of the miniatures has me pleased with the future possibilities.

Argh, I love Kwibl's art and the design on the soldiers. Really wish these were in 28mm. I'd be all over this kickstarter if they were. As is, I'll keep an eye on some of the big robots.

Obviously, your decision, Guildman. Me being a Heavy Gear player, this game scratches an itch in innovative creations. Plus, the 15mm sci-fi scene has a good following of rules to be used freely.

I really love the designs of these, and they would make great additions to my 15mm collection for Gruntz.

I have been trying to secure a Fiddler for Infinity usage for a while, as it is an outstanding design also.

Alas, my home AC just blew out last week, and it's going to run somewhere in the neighborhood of $6000 to get a new system installed :(

No hobbies for me for a long while.

I will definitely keep my eye open for these in retail when I have some spare cash though.

Wow, some of this stuff is stunning

I had artwork from this game as a background images for ages, it's really well done. Love the 'hard' sci-fi vibe to it.

I've already got a good terrain set-up for 15mm WW2 - perhaps just a few modern buildings and I could adapt easily for this.

An early bird option had become free so manager to get that as a place holder for now.

Since these add-ons will come if we break the Stretch Goals, if a single Pledge level isn't what you want, but just one or two of the Models, it's totally doable to just put in 5 pounds for Recruit level, then add on the price for whatever you want (keeping in mind that once the survey arrives from Kickstarter, you'll put in which ones you want, and shipping will be separate by region).

Apology accepted - though as far as we're concerned it already is "extremely successful" in what we wanted to achieve! We only wanted to make a small kickstarter, short-run campaign to get used to the kickstarter platform and gear ourselves up for the eventual release of our space combat game, Shattered Void.

Fiddler would make a great TAG for Infinity. Or a Drone / AI unit for any other 28mm sci-fi game. Tomorrow's war, Gruntz in 28mm... etc.

I WILL have one at some point.

Well, here's a quick scale shot of the Armadillo and Proteus against a Hasslefree 28mm miniature.





Armadillo with it's side-armour removed would make for an awesome 28mm-scale robotic support dog bot, like the one DARPA are making, rover is it?

Also the Proteus would stand in for a decent military mech in 28mm.

That Fiddler is a beaut.. Have often thought about getting the kit for the larger version for Infinity, but for the very high cost of the thing!

Looking like the 10k level is going to be unlocked at some point now..

Out of interest, what rulesets are people thinking of using with these minis? Tomorrow's War? Grunts?
