I... actually don't know. Help?

I just came up with a crazy idea: Grots suck, but a 10 man unit is 10 wounds. What if you drown your enemy in wounds...
My plan would be to have at least 40-50 Grots, field them all, and use them as cover/floodwave to give cover for my more heavily armed troops. Does it sound like a good tactic? Note: I am not going for fluff or competitive here,I'm just doing it for the laughs.

I did Grot trench warfare. It was fun but break test were the worse. Thank good for putting a runt herders and meks in every unit. I ran 6 groups of 15 grots.

Elysians: 500
Khorne Daemons: 2500

For fun, yeah, just be prepared to fail a lot of Ld tests.

Competively they are good for three things, backfield Objectives, ADL w/ Gun placement and absorbing Overwatch so the boyz can get stuck in

This strategy could only possibly work a little bit with a stompa to make them all fearless.

Pop the Stompa though and thats one big explosion ripping through your Grot units.

haha, you're worried about your 700 point model explosions killing your 3 point models in front of it? Really?

Well, yea if thats your entire army. Im assuming the OP wants to run some sort of full Grot army.

No, I want to do a normal army with a huge Grot blob.

If there was some way to make the unit fearless, then it could be a very useful tar-pit/roadblock...

Why on Earth would you do that?

The point of Gretchin is that they're cheap. Sticking warbosses onto them is a points sink.

Played against a guy who used a bunch of gnoblars and grots.
He had something like 5 units of 30 grots, along with lots of mek gunz and some grot tanks, a grot mega tank, a lord of war battle fortress, and a big mek for the HQ.

The 180 grots served as a massive bubble wrap, completely taking up all open space anywhere near the more valuable targets. Sure they were only Ld7 (with re-roll from hound), but if you were shooting at grots, you were doing it wrong.

Also, if you have the warband, and can waaagh every turn, and roll the 1 on your warlord table... Fearless grots are a side effect.

Stompa + a lot of grots is a time-proven effective combo. Everyone's underestimating lil gobbos.

I like using Gretchin as a cover save/bubble wrap for mek gunz.

My opponent ends up exert disproportionate effort taking them out.

IMHO gretchin are too bad to even work as a tarpit.

To the OP, a large gretchin screen doesn't sound like a bad idea for a footslogging list.
