Ahoy!

I bought a storm today and was thinking about colours to paint it. I am going to do it for my ultramarine chapter presumably, but wanted to get some input on if and how to camouflage it.

I want them to be urban themed, and found this which looks pretty good to me http://cyphercodicer2.deviantart.com/art/Space-Marine-Scout-DCPU-17559632

The urban theme there is absolutely how i will paint the cloth the Marines wear, not decided on the armor or land speeder itself though.

So what do you guys think?

Urban cloth, blue armour?
Urban cloth, grey/urban armour?
Urban/skycamo hybrid for the armour?

What about the vehicle itself? Blue with digital greys?

Input greatly appreciated!

So I found a camo generator and am trying to decide if any of them are ok.

I don't mind the strict urban theme;

Skycam is horrible, I don't know why it is a thing.

This could be a winner though;

Well IRL it would be full urban camo from armor to clothing.

But because that looks terrable for the most part.

Id go the urban picture from that deviant page.

Black or Grey armor, Camo clothing,

Black Straps and leather.

Then add badges to the shoulder pad in blue or whatever your Smurfs will be.

LSS be solid color or broke and do camo.

I am thinking of being a coward and just going with normal colours - mainly because then I can stop wasting time theorizing on it and get it done this weekend

Also, I can't see the LSS ever being a different colour, as surely that would upset the machine spirit.

The scouts will be magnetized, so I can always change my mind if I like - and I will probably urban cam the cloth on them, as that would make sense (they could theoretically drop their carapace armour to go with only the cams).

My LSS, like my scouts, are in a forest camo. I tried a little sponge work on it. One of the things I love about scouts is that they let me paint someting that's not ultramarine blue. I understand the basic battle brothers in parade ground heraldry, but scouts should go unseen.

If you want normal colours and a camo look without using a pattern, maybe just use a darker version of your army's scheme?

:/ Then go blue armor + vehicles. Camo cloaks and clothing. Black straps and equipment.

Should still good great.

I pretty much decided to go with the following;

Eshin Grey / French Blue / Administratum Grey for the camo on both the scouts and the land speeder

Eshin Grey armor for all the scouts

Will be base coating them tonight

Camo isn't as hard as it sounds. You just need to remember that its designed to break up outlines, rather than being random blobs. Infantry scale models you might be able to get away with a bit of random blobbing, but on vehicles you really need to make sure that the disruptive pattern extends over hard edges and corners. I had rather good fun doing my Guard and Tau camo schemes.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
