Hi,

Im looking to convert the Stormtalon, as I think it is ugly as hell as-is. Ive found several great conversion ideas.

My question is, I would like to make sure that I am not "modeling for advantage". I know that wings count as hull on flyers, (so larger wings would be a disadvantage, I think, as far as targeting goes) Although would moving guns be considered as an advantage? Here is a picture of what I want to do:

Im not really looking to go to tourneys, but I don't want people to think I am trying to gain any type of advantage. I dont really care if converting the model would be a disadvantage on my part, but personally i also would like to make sure I dont have any type of advantage just becuase I would bother me (if that makes since

Thanks for your help in advance!

Thanks for that link, that looks much better than the stock model!

You are making the wings bigger, so you are a bigger target that's easier to get a line of site to.

you are changing a turret mounted gun with a 360 arc to a hull mounted gun with a very limited arc.

modelling for disadvantage is something I have done a little of myself.

I actually think the Stormtalon is a pretty handsome model I've built 4!

But anyhow. In the game, it's a lousy way to spend 200 points, so I can't imagine anyone caring how you model it one way or the other, advantage or not

When we play, we give the turret a full, 180 degree frontal arc, and a very steep vertical arc (60 degrees downwards, and a full 90 degrees up), to account for a chopper-like vehicle with turbines in the front and back being able to angle its tail higher to shoot at a sharper angle. It just feels more "realistic" because the stormraven feels more chopper than jet. And plus, without that, the vertical angle on he top turret is horrible, unless you attach the whole model onto the flyer stem at a harsh angle.

Thanks for the input! I think i would keep the 360 turret mounted gun, hopefully move it back under the cockpit, or make it smaller, its huge for some reason on the original model.

I stuck the missiles under the wings, like that conversion does but without remodelling the wings themselves, and it does make it look a lot less front heavy.

Then do what you like.

Conversions like the link give you negligible advantage/disadvantage and no one is going to care.

I personally prefer the nephelim jet fighter look.

Also note that the only issue i see is that you have to remember the original gun locations. the talon has a turret TL assault cannon. not a hull mounted wing gun.

and the missiles start closer to the cockpit.
