If someone in your circle of players had the set and rules (officially here) would you be against them fielding it? It's not forgeworld but it's not exactly common ownership either. Would you feel it gave opponents an unfair trick up their sleeves?

What's everyone's opinion on actually bringing them to the table?

How is it not Forgeworld? And why does it being forgeworld or not forgeworld matter?

They aren't forgeworld...

Anyway, I would let them play. I would also be extremely jealous. Lucky bastard...

their sold at warhammer world not forgeworld, their technically a 40k licensed and official product just like the other land raiders (crusader, redeemer, land raider standard) as it comes packaged like a normal boxed product. And some people object to playing against forge world. The arguement that this is a forge world vehicle or counts as isn't a very sturdy leg to stand on.

It's not a licence that they have, saying that makes it sound as if they are a different company. FW is a part of GW and just a different brand name.

As long as they have the rules for them, why not. It is not like someone can stop the other player from taking legal stuff.

Isn't this the same store that was rumored to sell the first Warlord Titan? One would suppose that would end any Forge World isn't Games Workshop debate then.

I would say these rules are 100% legal in all formats. It comes directly from GW! Mine arrive tomorrow!!!!

GW's core miniature department is Citadel, which was a separate company back in the 80s. Forge World is a different department with it's own separate brand, the word Citadel only appears a handful of times on the Forge World site, and always in a context of separation from Forge World, ie: "These can all be used with the full range of both Citadel and Forge World Space Marine kits."
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine-Infantry-and-Accessories/SPACE_MARINE_HEAVY_WEAPONS_SET.html

The Excelsior/Primaris box explicitly bears the Citadel logo, so it's just as much a 'core' GW product as a regular Land Raider or Rhino are.

On a side note. Doesn't the name excelsior remind people of how South Park portrays Al Gore in the Man Bear Pig episodes?
All I can hear is that voice when I read it.

They're 100% plastic GW models, but as you say, it doesn't matter.

The only option I could find was ebay and ship from the UK. Grand total was over 200 bucks. Worth it though.

My opinion of it would depend on how strictly they're enforcing the obligation to have legal copies of all of your rules and official models. If anyone who wants to use the new command tanks by pirating a copy of the rules and gluing a radar dish on a Land Raider can do so then sure, I'll play against them. If you're going to insist on enforcing "legal rules and official models only" the no, I'm not going to be very interested in playing against your limited-availability toy. Both players should have equal access to all options, otherwise we're playing "pay to win" instead of a fair game.

And of course the same is true for all of GW's other limited-availability stuff. If you want to be the only person who gets to bring that (blatantly overpowered) marine drop pod formation because you have more money than everyone else and bought a copy before it sold out then you, you're TFG.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

THis. It bugs the heck out of me that things like these tanks and the skyhammer rules only come in a super expensive box.

The worst part is...I have 15k points of dark angels...I am NOT spending $400 for a freaking 2 pages of rules!!!

EDIT: As long as someone knows where I can get the rules when they are playing them during that game. Like using blood of kittens to get a detachment rule or something is fine with me. But using rules based off memory alone I'm not as kool with.

Limited Edition rules are dumb and I won't play against them.

Make them available for download or or purchase or GTFO, GW.
