Revenant78 wrote:Why would I switch to an inferior miniature looking game when I love 8th and can continue to play for years with real whfb models and continue using almost any editon of warhammer fantasy ? it's the same reason I won't switch to generic crappy sci fi games by other companies, the minis suck sure the rules might be ok but it's a huge yawn fest, can just house rule 40k or pick an edition that is loved.
If other people love KOW hey great just as other people love warmachine etc, I love real fantasy battle and will stick that long after gw is dead just like I will continue to play blood bowl and battlefleet gothic.
that's fair, if you've got a gaming group that's willing to go along!

Basically same models as WHFB. I haven't played a game yet, but want to give that a shot as well.
Does warthron have an ogre alternative?
Thanks

Hordes of barbaria have some ogres, as far as I know. I'm more interested in the dark elves personally.

you can rank ogres with the marauders of the apocalypse also. http://www.avatars-of-war.com/eng/web/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&prodcode=75&prodname=Ogre+Marauder+of+the+Apocalypse+1&id=118&Itemid=143
warthrone is a fantastic game. i have been playing it for about two years now. me and my warhammer mates all switched to warthrone long ago. but i do not want to sound like an advertiser for warthrone. rules are only 34 pages, download, read them, and see for yourselves

Honestly I'm kind of glad AoS bites the soft n hairy. At least now I can get all the books I want for cheaper and plus the arms race is officially over!
I have been meaning to give Mantic a shot. I have their PDFs at home (gasp DC has interwebs?!?!) But up until now I had nothing more than a passing interest. Perhaps now that TFG, er I mean GW, has put the boot to their best game I will look more seriously at Mantic. They do have some great minis, but some are ugly as the aforementioned soft n hairy...

You don't have to use Mantic's minis to play Mantic games. Even they encourage that.
With that said, their Undead range is awesome.

Why not play both KoW and AoS? Just because you play one, doesn't stop you from playing the other. Unless the other game is not your cup of tea, which is fair enough.
I play AoS at the moment, but I shall be delving in to KoW at some point as well.
