What would be the best in a BW or Trukk rush setup? And what about footslog? Or is a hybrid setup a good idea?
Using 4/5 BWs / Trukks to dump them straight into opposition.

Would warbikes be worth it alongside the trukks & boyz?

Question is, are you ever going to have time to shoot with the shootas? In a fast rush army your aiming to be in the opponents face asap.

And yes, warbikers are definitely worth it. They are quick, can put out decent dakka, and offer another target that isn't your trukk or bw.

Excellent point haha. I'm looking at my potential army list and just trying to decide what I want to go for and it's a bit of a stress - not going to lie!

Are using them as 'Ard boyz worth it in terms of point cost, or just stick to normal boys and mob them?

Trukks for Sluggaz, Wagons for Shootas.

'Eavy Armour on any Trukk boy though, because it's essentially a paper aeroplane wannabe.

This is the age-old question. and it seems to change from edition to edition and from codex to codex.

But in this edition with the ability to WAAAGH run/charge and the ability to reroll a charge die, it seems the slugga boyz are winning. also they are cheaper.

However, shoota boyz are not all that bad either, and depending on what you charge, having 3 attacks on 20 boyz is just as effective as having 4 attacks on 20 boyz.

For example, shooting may be better against some targets, like flying monstrous creatures. 40 snapshots will still get a t least a few hits and you may make him fail a grounding test.

To ask a quesiton with no doubt an obvious answer - how do people deploy 5 wagons with boyz if they're for nobz only?

You can put units in a transport even if it isnt a dedicated transport. What dedicated transport means is that it doesnt take up a spot on the Force Organization chart. So trukks are normally Fast Attack and battlewagons are normally Heavy.

So a normal CAD has 3 Heavy Support Slots. But with dedicated transports, you can fit in some extra battlewagons that dont take up a Heavy Slot.
So 3 units of 10 lootas would be 3 heavy support slots. but if you have a unit of flashgitz in a BW, its a dedicated transport so it doesnt take up a heavy slot.

Does the DT still cost points if it doesn't take up a slot?

Wasn't aware of a CAD and limited number of slots

So trukks wouldn't take up fast attack slots for infantry?

DT still cost points, unless you're playing SPESS MAHREENS and get them for free because your GW's poster boy

DT follow the same Force Org slot as the unit they were purchased for, without taking up a slot.

For example, a unit of Boyz buy a Trukk. That Trukk is classified as a troops choice despite not taking a slot (this also applies the Objective Secured special rule for it if said Boyz were taken in a CAD).

A unit of Meganobz (MANz) buys a Trukk. This Trukk, since Meganobz are Elite Choices, is an Elite choice.

You are of course, free to take Trukks from FA and Wagons from HS, or from formations, in which case they become FA and HS respectively. The difference between Transports purchased by themselves (so take up a slot in a force org) is that during deployment, any unit can go inside, whereas a DT can only hold the unit that bought it during deployment.

If this is still confusing I'll try and clarify my post.

That makes sense.

So I could do

5 x Boyz
3x Trukks as part of my CAD

then use Bully Boyz formations and Blitz Brigade for the 3 units of MANz and 5 BWs? (To a large number of points I imagine!)

Shoota boys work well with a Wierdboy if you end up with 'Da Jump' power. You can drop 30 x boyz with shoota in front of a group and unload 60 shoota shots to their face.

Just watch for pie plates though, they come out of deepstrike reeeeeeeaaalll close to eachother

If it was unbound, what odds would that make?

Warboss - MEGA ARMOUR, POWERCLAW, SHOOTA HQ 110
20 Boyz -Slugga/Choppa, Nob POWERCLAW, BOSS POLE Troops 160
20 Boyz -Slugga/Choppa, Nob POWERCLAW, BOSS POLE Troops 160
20 Boyz -Slugga/Choppa, Nob POWERCLAW, BOSS POLE Troops 160
20 Boyz -Shoota , Nob POWERCLAW, BOSS POLE, 2x BIG SHOOTA / ROKKIT Troops 190
20 Boyz -Shoota , Nob POWERCLAW, BOSS POLE, 2x BIG SHOOTA / ROKKIT Troops 190
Trukk ROKKIT LAUNCHA, BOARDING PLANK, RAM FA 50
Trukk ROKKIT LAUNCHA, BOARDING PLANK, RAM FA 50
Trukk ROKKIT LAUNCHA, BOARDING PLANK, RAM FA 50

Bully Boyz Formation (3x MANz each unit) Formation 340
Blitz Brigade (5x Battlewagon w/ Reinforced Rams & Boarding Ladders) Formation 435

Total: 1895

Would this look like a workable army list in terms of being correct? I know it's missing some stuff for anti-air and obviously lacks painboys etc?

With unbound you can take anything, say just Tankbustas and call it a day. Most people are opposed to it as you could just spam overpowered units and most tournaments require you be battleforged.

That list seems a little...off. Trukks can only hold 12 so I wouldn't recommend Shootaboyz inside them. The Battlewagons also seem underpoints for what your paying ~(side note, always take a Rokkit Launcha, if a Weapon Destroyed result occurs and you don't have it, your Wagon ain't moving and that's just sad sauce).

I'm not a huge fan of Boarding plank, particulary since you can re-roll one dice to charge with 'Ere we go!

The MANz from Bullyboyz also need five models per unit.

Oh and I'd always take Da Lucky Stikk and a Warboss if possible. What's even better than a 2+ armour save? A 2+ re-rollable armour save

I wouldn't worry about AA too much, you usually hit on five's so snap shots don't really affect us Ork players. That said, if you do need some, Traktors and Lootas are your best bet, Dakkajets and Warbuggies if you're after something a little more mobile.

Intended to use the trukks for the MANz due to their mega armour then BWs for the boyz due the Trukks as quoted being paper planes haha.

I can't really find a ork list for 1850 - 2000 that seems to cover a Blitz Brigade or Bully Boy formation :/

You know, that makes much more sense I'd buy them as DT for the MANz then, because there is a mission type where destroying a FA means that you get a Victory Point and Trukks are easy points. By buying them as Elites DT, you'll bypass that.

It's tough to fit both in at that points level, my ideal load outs for both come to 600 each and then you're left with 650-800 for the rest. It's best to stick with one and build around it to be honest.

2000 and above, you could probably get both in and still have a strong list.

Fair enough - didn't think of that, I'd use the trukks at DTs then.
What are the ideal load outs for both to come to 600? Seem to be hitting the 1400 mark with boyz & trukks?

Not sure what's worth having in this ed, I'd like to fit Tankbustas in, warbikes or deffkoptas for FA and from what I've read, painboys are apparently incredibly useful when attached to troops?

All of those are great units to have. If your meta allows FW, then the FW Warboss makes Warbikers troops choices which can free up some FA slots. Tankbustas are solid as ever and single Deffkoptas are great annoyance units.

For Bullyboyz, Trukks and Rams and call it a day. Some people like Wagons because of Av14/12 but it's more expensive (barebones it comes to 600, with the Trukks its 705). You don't want any upgrades on Bullyboyz because they've got enough S9 AP2 attacks to hurt anything. Maybe one Killsaw if you really need it but that's it, due to Fearless they don't need Boss Poles or anything that CAD manz might need.

For Blitz Brigade, Rams (Deffrollas are useless since the Codex dropped) and Rokkits (for weapon destroyed).

Painboyz are probably the best unit in the book bar none. FnP on large units is great. Some good formations are a large unit of Meganobz, a large unit of Warbikers, or even Greentide (FnP for 100 boyz and a Warboss all in one unit is immense).

So, in terms of list building - build either Blitz Brigade or BullyBoyz and surround with warboss on bike & warbikes as troops or greentide with boyz and warboss, tankbustas, a couple of painboys? Do they need to be attached for FnP?

Attach them to large units though, you'll get the most out of them that way.

Depends on terrain as well. It might be way easier to use 30 shoota boyz vrs 30 slugga boyz depending on what they have to get around.

Shootaboyz are at the very least a good compliment to a bunch of slugga boyz.

Shootaz have been my choice for all units ever since Overwatch came back into the game.

30 guys=60 shots= 10 hits avg= 5 wounds avg= you get a few kills if they charge you, which helps when you wipe a squad on your turn and end up standing there.
