In order to be a "nice guy".
This makes it hard to play with new players that have a slimmer collection.
It also makes it easier for
TFG to prey on those new players, they have a larger reserve to pull from and can throw out more "counter-units" by simply spending a bunch of money.
Thanks for bringing my attention to this, never would have thought about it otherwise.
Sorry, this just struck me as being a pointless argument as
TFG already does this with a points system. The difference now is
TFG can't hide behind the argument of "Well it's the same points!" and can be called out on his powergaming
WAAC BS.
Also....wait...are you telling me that a COMPANY that exists to make MONEY like every other company on the planet made a rule set designed to SELL more MODELS the thing they make MONEY on to an unsuspecting public? Scandalous....how dare they try and make a profit!!! Those monsters!!!
Prove it dude.
Prove to me, my 11 year old brother who knows nothing about wargames can pick up the game and know how to play a balanced game. Say he and a friend look at this game on
GW, see the free rules. One buys a box of Goblins and 1 buys a unit of Temple Guard. Are you seriously saying the one who purchased temple guard box is a
TFG who should just come out of the closet and say that he wants to crush the goblin player and will think its awesome he broke the game?
How would someone new to wargaming get started with this game and not accidentally have uneven armies (something very easy to do in
AOS)? Because I can't see how? Not without someone who has a lot of experience to show them how to play a basic game that isn't stupidly unbalanced. Especially if you are gonna say people who don;t know how to balance their owns games are
TFGs.
The argument isn't pointless, it makes sense. I have no idea how to balance this game. If me and a friend were to buy this game today I would have thought I could buy 2 troops boxes and have a good fight against 2 of his troops boxes. But we all know that 2 boxes of goblins will probably be crushed horribly by 2 boxes of ogres and we know that from experience. With points a new person can find out what would be a balanced (at least a little balanced) for their first purchases.
It takes someone who knows the game, the armies and units to play a balanced game with
AOS
