So, with the 'Sigmarines' being a thing and Sigmar given earthly-form, what do you think is likely?

Will GW just allow AOS to be separate from 40K? Or, will:

1. Sigmar create Space Marin... er, wait...
2. We then see some 'Hero' Sigmarines, considered by Sigmar to be his sons.
3. Multiple sigmarine chapters are formed.
4. Chaos does its usual shtick.
5. Nagash and some notable vampires/necromancers become the C'tan, the undead become the Necrons.
6. Elves become the Eldar.
7. Orcs pretty much get guns and stay the same.
8. Dwarfs die out for some reason, or regress to Ratlings.
9. Ogres are now Ogruns.
10. Sigmar unites humanity and leads them through the darkness, until Chaos once again ruins things.

Outlandish, of course, but, well...

You never know with GW.

He's more like the God of Order, Civilization and Mankind.

There are obvious references, but I still think it's not "Warhammer 40k's origines". Mostly because the Warhammer's main planet is not Terra - even more now it is destroyed and replaced by many "realms" more akin to Dungeon and Dragon's multiplans/multiverse.

By the way, Sigmar's realm is the Celestial Realm, so...no, definitely nothing like Terra.

I know it sounds silly and is niegh impossible, but...

It's Sigmar, creator of the Sigmarines! Who knows, maybe he'll use his mighty hammer to re-forge the world anew or something. Or, more likely, GW will go 'Sigmar is now God-Emperor, now it's up to you gamers to work out your own fluff. You know, forge your own narrative'.

It'd be a laugh though, and the backlash would be amazing.

It would be really easy to blend both universes back in.

Nah, 40k takes place in actual time and space while AoS takes place in a mythological domain. Back when the World of Warhammer was just a planet floating in space, there was no reason why that space could not be the Imperium of Man. But now the two settings are completely isolated from another.

Maybe it's in the Warp.

But yeah, I'm thinking more like Manchu on that matter. Definetely something completely different, in a fantasy world apart from the Grim Universe.

Well in that case, perhaps Sigmar just needs to ally himself with Kaldor Draigo?

I think they are deliberately paralleling story concepts and so on, but I don't think it's setting up Sigmar as the Emperor. They're just taking the elements they see as successful in 40K and applying them fairly crudely to Warhammer Fantasy.

To be fair to them, it seems to be working alright, from the amount of crossover interest from 40K fans.

Sigmar would need to take a few steps down to become the Emperor tbh.

Sigmar has hammered everything he ever came up against 1:1 - Chaos Daemons, chosen of the Gods, you name it.

The man beat Archaon with his bare fists, and exploded the Slayer of Kings with his magic - if the emperor were in that league, Horus would've been kerb stomped and disarmed without ever touching him.

Sigmar is the warp-manifestation of Kaldor Draigo...obviously.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

The store owner of my LGS thinks that is the case. Hilarious to think about but I doubt it's the case.

That image in WD 76 (pg 17) is REALLY compelling evidence though (as well as one of the best images to come out of GW IMO)

I thought Kaldor was the knight that Araloth found while trying to save Shallya? (Theoretically that is)

The celestial realm of Azyr is obviously situated directly beneath the astronomicon in the warp. Sygmar is a powerful enough entity to create his own space in the warp just like certain daemon princes. That means his position is basically the spot Terra sits in the actual mortal realm. The world's overlap, it's pretty neat to think about it that way...

They'd have to re-write all of established 40k lore just for that. Not saying it's impossible, but it'd be a stupid, stupid move. 40k lore as it is is much better than you came up with (no offense, it's just the scenario we have right now is more reasonable than "fantasy went to spesssss and turned into 40k factionzzz".

Uhm...no. Necrons are the easiest part to write in. The whole C'tan / Old Ones / Necrons thing took place way, way before the age of WHFB. The C'tan killed almost everything there was and the Old Ones created the Eldar in a last attempt to fight before being brutally slaughtered by the C'tan and made extinct. When the races in WHFB started to exist, the Necrons were already fully asleep.
