My tanks are too clean and new, I wanted to add some mud to them, but how? I could buy a special product but I wanted to try it tonight when I can't get to the hobby shop. I thought to myself: "What can I add to the paint to make it thick and paste like?" Well, I remember making a paste out of flower and water to make paper mache when I was a kid. A little flower, some paint and it looks great. I don't know how it will hold up, time will tell.

Anyone done this?

Never tried flour myself. I typically use plaster + fine grain sand + paint.

Hard as nails or equivalent could work, but would need painting afterwards.

It looks pretty good. Assuming the flour doesn't deteriorate over time, it seems like a fine choice.

Considering that flour and water has been used as a paste for ages I think that this will probably survive just fine.

I would give it a varnish, but I agree it should be fine.

Looks fine to me. My only worry would be flaking as it dries. How's it holding up in that respect?

I imagine, like porridge dried to a bowl, it will be fine.

I think it looks awesome! And if it works for paper mache, it will work for this absolutely! That stuff is like a rock when dried.

It dried without cracking. So I think it will be good when I clear coat the model.

Here it is, I still need to paint the commander and a few details.

I need to add some mud to my Sisters of battle tanks.

Haha nice effect! I'm surprised at how well that worked I'll be giving it a go I think.

Thanks for sharing.

I'd varnish in case it goes mouldy. We made Christmas decorations from dough years ago and the unvarnished ones could get a bit 'alive'.

Looks bloody good, btw!!!
