I just got half of the starter set (chaos) and since I'm not sure if I'd play AoS (not sure what to do with the models yet, conversions for 40k, merge them into my WoC army or just go with the AoS stuff and assemble them as the legion of gore or w/e they are called) I still want to know what the rules for this models are, I was offered to keep the AoS book where I assume the rules are but since there was all this Rules are free, no need for books, etc, etc, etc. I told to the guy who bought the other half to keep the book.
So, I was asked yesterday what were the rules on the models I got, and I said sure, no problem... got to the GW website, clicked on anything related to chaos or to the starter set and got not a single pdf.... but its ok, I got the AoS app on my tablet rules are surely there.
Turn on my tablet, access the app and I see the Legions of Gore or w/e section all is fine. Once I click on the rules it sends me a message, purchase AoS set to unlock the rules... uh... weren't these supposed to be free?, and even if they aren't I already purchased it, how am I suppose to unlock the option? Am I doomed to have my physical copy of those specific units?
Has anyone found a source for this rules other than the book that comes with the set?

Yeah, we noticed the same thing yesterday, when two players wanted to split a box.
Looks like you have to wait until the units get released on their own (like Stormcast Liberators) or search for scanned rules from the boxed set.

You should have kept the book if you're playing the Chaos part, at least for the time being.
Basically, you'll get the unit profiles free when the units actually come out(Bloodreavers, Blood Warriors, Khorgorath, Bloodstoker, and Bloodsecrator are not officially "out" yet with their own model boxes). The big thing that I noticed about the AoS app is that it locks you out of stuff that is Warscroll Battalions but not unit profiles.

The War Scrolls for all units in the starter box ARE currently free in the Age of Sigmar app.
For the Khorne Bloodbound units, click War Scrolls, then Chaos, the change Factions from All to Khorne Boodbound. You'll see them all. The War Scrolls are all free, but the Campaign related Battalions require a purchase.
Same thing for Eternals, but it's Order and then Stormcast Eternals.

Are there PDFs for the starter set scrolls?
I have been searching on the web store and cannot find any free ones except the core rules, terrain and the ex-WHFB armies.

As the units are released separately, they will have separate War Scrolls available on their product pages. The only current way to get the War Scrolls for the units only available in the starter set is either in the starter set or on the Age of Sigmar app. The Age of Sigmar app is available for Android and iOS, which covers the majority of smart phone users.
If you are in the minority of players who didn't buy the models, wants the rules anyways and doesn't have an iOS or Android smartphone... you'll either have to wait until the units are released separately or ask a friend/opponent to see their copy of the rules. Chances are also pretty good that you know someone with a compatible smartphone who can send you a screen cap.

I've got various Android phones and tablets but I wanted a PDF for printing.
Oh well, another disappointment from GW.

1. Screen shot the War Scroll on your tablet.
2. Print the resulting image.
This is only a disappointment if you forget that you can print pictures in addition to PDFs. C'mon, man. This took two seconds worth of problem solving.

It would have taken 0 seconds and been higher resolution if GW had published a PDF.

You are right, found them at the bottom of the chaos section. Thanks a lot.

To confirm, you're complaining about maybe 1-2 seconds of additional effort (I'm being generous. Takes less than one second for me to hit the screenshot buttons on my iPad.) and a resolution difference that isn't optimized for high end printers, but is barely noticeable on standard settings with standard paper on a standard inkjet printer?
This rule set that has historically cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars is now being provided for free.
I'm grateful that the rules are now free. I'm grateful that my hobby budget can now be spent on models and not costly rule sets. I'm grateful that Games Workshop is actively trying to make their Fantasy game more accessible to more people. I'm grateful for many things associated with this release. I wish more people actively practiced gratitude.
