Everything about the game, excluding the Defensive lines, was very 'meh'. This includes the incredibly 'meh' Half Time Show.
Well maybe the kiss between Manning and Papa John was exceptional.

I normally am not too hard on Coldplay, but their performance just seemed so low key and slow compared to Mars' and Beyonce's. It felt like they were two entirely different shows, and only one show got the energy.
Honestly, my favorite part of the halftime show was Beyonce and Mars going at it in some sort of dance battle when Chris Martin just kinda wedged himself in there. His body language had the "Yeah, Coldplay! I'M RELEVANT!" vibe to it, and it made me laugh a bit. Even so, I preferred Coldplay's music over the others, even if it was a bit more... chill .

NE fan base said Denver could never beat New England now that the had Julian and everyone else.
Denver Beat New England and gave Brady his worse game of the season in the so called "Brady Revenge Tour".
Then it was Denver could never win the Super Bowl
Alpharius wrote:

Denver won the super bowl.
It's been hilarious watching NE fans on the internet. Your tears are delicious and salty.

No random shots here. New England talked gak. got hit.
And not from a loser fan.

Ah, no taking random shots? But I love poking some good-humored fun at the Deflatriots fanbase. (As a Lions kind of guy though, maybe I should just leave ) Back on topic, it was nice to see how happy Manning was. Would be a very nice conclusion to a great career.

Manning didn't really seem too happy. Or not as Happy as I expected him to be. Just his personality? Eli seemed less than thrilled.
His facial expression read "Crap, no more smack talking at Thanks giving dinner."
Also, ESPN said the Budweiser comment was not a paid plug plus players cannot be paid to endorse alcohol or tobacco. Which I didn't know that was the case. Odd since every other commercial during football games is is coors or bud.
Which means Manning enjoys the second worse beer known to man.

In all my years of watching Manning as an NFL QB, I've never really seen him as the super energetic "rah rah" guy... To me, he looked as happy and satisfied as I've ever seen him.
I mean, when I compare Tom Brady's first super bowl win, with his last, he definitely looks more ho-hum about winning yet again, and Brady's always been one to show a bit more emotion than Manning.
But yeah, you're totally correct on the Eli read

I suspect that there are some interesting dynamics in that family and even a bit of dysfunction.
But what I really want to know is why Archie Manning is treated like NFL royalty. He wasn't a great QB, and was only a good one if you believe the narrative that his teams held him back (note that good QBs have found ways to shine on bad teams). He's like Jim Plunkett, but without the championships.

Well, if that user above is correct, he cannot make money off of endorsements... Nothing about owning a distributor is saying endorsements, unless he's doing commercials for said local distributor.

So basically he's a race horse who never won gak, but sired some champions after being put out to stud. *shrug*
Looking at his stats, he was a 55.5% passer, which wasn't bad for the era. His TDs to INTs is 125-173. Ouch. That's not good even when adjusting for his era, when QBs threw almost as many INTs as TDs. He had 3 good years -- 1978, 1979 and 1980. Topped 60% completions in all three years (a really good number at that time) and made the Pro Bowl in '78 and '79.
Still...in '79 he three 15 TDs and 20 INTs, and that was on an 8-8 ball club, so you can't claim that he was ALWAYS playing from behind like you might say about earlier in his career. One of the narratives you hear is that he took a beating. That's hard to tell without looking at film. He did get sacked a lot...3 times he hit 40+, and that was mostly on a lower number of attempts than you see today. Still, in '80 he got sacked 41 times on 509 attempts, which doesn't seem obscene. Of course, who knows how many other hits he took. Back then you could really drill QBs even if you didn't collect the sack.
Okay, so he had a few good years, and a bunch of bad ones. I dunno...I'm old enough to remember that era a little, and I just don't remember Archie being mentioned among the top QBs like Staubach, Stabler, Bradshaw, Tarkenton, etc. He was a big star in college and a #2 overall pick, and I suspect that plays into the narrative that he was a great QB in a terrible situation.
So years from now if guys like David Carr or Sam Bradford sire a bonafide great QB, I guess they'll become NFL royalty too.

Don't know why my post got cut off, but yes, that was my point - NFL (has a 1 billion plus deal for Bud Light) itself has a big deal but I think forbids players from taking endorsement deals for any 'alcohol' deals.
But again, does anyone care?

It's good see an NFL player be financially responsible. Instead of living in a low income apartment snorting coke and broke.
I feel like a players drafted should take a economics class and how to be responsible with their money and invest.
Read an article about Marshawn lynch recently and Gronk before that, they live off their endorsement money. Stash their NFL income. Good to see level headed people who don't buy their "professional friends" expensive stuff. Mike Tyson, Micheal Vick and many others were known for.

Not exactly mr. current events are ya?? Lol, they DO have just those sorts of classes... It's part of the NFL's rookie programs that were developed a few years ago. IIRC, that was put in during the last union CBA talks.
There are financial classes, as well as "how to avoid scams" class, time management/how to be a "pro player" classes, etc. I think it's done sometime after draft, but before fall camps open in pre-season.

Wasn't aware of that. Link? I was more aware of the new CBA agreement containing contract agreements and money regarding rookie pay scale and veterans. There were some other stuff in theat CBA agreement regarding player safety, practice, and new player benefits. But don't remember a thing about financial education.

and this was prior to the new cba
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2010-07-29-nfl-rookies-money-bankruptcy_N.htm
None of that was highlighted by NFL's or ESPN's run down of the new agreement.

If the Patriots had won the superbowl the gloating would have been biblical. Most of the NE fans I know were very dismissive of Denver both before and after getting eliminated by them.
The only time for gloating is after the fact. Beforehand gloating can lead to humble pie and only makes the gloater look bad even if they deliver ( IMO).
Tom Brady is an awesome quarterback and I hope he gets another ring in his last season but the only fan base I know worse than NE (personal experience) is Dallas.
