I'm curious as to what the Necron players on dakka have as thier background. Do you use the given dynasties? If you created your own dynasty, what is it and what is it's background?

I use my own one which is very tongue in cheek. I've only ever inherited my models from others so I made it up to suit what I have which is an abundance of warriors and destroyers. I'm pretty sure it goes against a lot of the hard fluff of the crons but I wanted to explore how a Dynasty copes when its taken heavy losses.

Necron Dynasty: Cy'lek

In the days of bio-transference, it was the Cy'lek Dynasty that embraced it the most fervently. Already a Dynasty known for it technological prowess and dependence, it comes as no surprise that they were the first dynasties to complete this "upgrade".

Already a small Dynasty, it suffered from many losses during the great sleep. The Phaerons awoke to a Dynasty decimated, without numbers to reclaim a world beside their crownworld.
It was the kryptek ingenuity that has saved the Cy'lek Dynasty and set it on a path to becoming a serious threat to the galaxy. Modifying a transference machine salvaged on their crownworld, small raids could be made on neighbouring systems to capture lesser species and transfer them into necrontyr automotons, stripped of sentience and will to swell the ranks of the Cy'lek army.
It has taken many decades, but the borders of this Dynasty are growing and their numbers grow exponentially with each world conquered. Warriors from rival dynasties are captured and reprogrammed to serve the Cy'leks; world populations that are not " exterminated" are thrown into the transferal machine.

The Cy'leks see the galaxy becoming as something within their grasp each day and a universe beyond for them to conquer, exterminate, upgrade and rule supreme.

KAGEROS DYNASTY
A small dynasty somewhere on the edge of something space, a small dynasty with only 1 world. The Kageros are diplomatic do to there low numbers and odd nature, this also forced them to twist their destroyer legions into nothing more than a simple weapons platform, due to their diplomatic behavior they rely on heavily indoctrinated Tau and modified Tyranids for frontline troops.(how?) http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/658099.page

TIAN'KONG DYNASTY
Located in the galactic north, to the east of the Atun dynasty holdings and based around a single system, the Tian'kong dynasty have long been known for two things. Firstly, their martial skills. In life, every soldier of the Northern Heavens was trained in the martial techniques of hand-to-hand combat, although they often reserved these skills for worthy foes. Secondly, they were famous for their ability to tame and control machine intelligences. Few were the dynasties that made more common usage of canoptek constructs, and it was common knowledge that the Phaeron, Chenwu, had a tamed Warp Spider coaxed from the depths of an Eldar world engine for a pet.

Though many of the mysteries of their fighting arts were lost during biotransferance and the unpredicted elimination of the life force that fueled so many techniques, their mastery of technology soon made up the difference. Overall, between their machines and their legion of canoptek servants, the Tian'kong dynasty made it through the Long Sleep with only a single casualty to time and despair. Some say it was sabotage, for of all the sleep chambers that could have failed, why would it be that of Phaeron Chenwu?

When the new Phaerakh, Chenwu's daughter Tzimun awoke, she mourned her father for twice the ritually requisite week, allowing her Nemesor to dictate policy as was tradition. Nemesor Do Na Hu was a wise sort, if utterly ruthless, and by the time Tzimun was ready to take command of her Empire of the Northern Heavens, mobilisation was already under way. Three more worlds awaited the command to rise from their slumber... and thousands more waited to test Tzimun's skills... perhaps, even, without the Szarekh's influence, she could have her revenge on the pompous Triarch who scorned her skills before her death because she was a woman.

Its always good to see people use the vanilla theme, it reminds me where the might and roots of the necrons come from

my friend uses that there was a problem with biotransference wich retained the lower level necrons "personalitys". the necron overlord ran of with a mindshackled skittari conclave and the rest are having a civil war
