Definately a fan, I picked up on the artwork and thought it was really cool and then with the Kickstarter looming A few of us have started to spread the word and get some sneaky inside knowledge of what's to come. Collectively known as Outriders we don't have any affiliation with the company aside from really wanting it to succeed. I mean 4 armed 4 eyed monsters a head higher than a human, wider than a human and they are not the largest race in the fluff, who wouldn't want it to succeed Plus as my mini review pointed out the quality of the miniatures is damn good so far!

Lovely models! I will have to work out if I have any projects that call for them...

Just double checked, no early birds just a discount off retail - which is good for me. The plus, If I remember right, is if they can hit stretch goals then there are extra miniatures included.

Some very cool renders here! Particularly love the Nexus grunts. Only constructive criticism is that the few 3D prints so far don't look as dynamic as those, so it'd be sweet to see a dynamic pose printed. Looking forward to seeing this launch!

I have seen parts of the STL files for the 3D prints- hopefuly it will not be long before there are 3D prints of the Nexus grunts.

With all of the SF miniatures and games coming out and already on the market, is there any company making 3D 28mm spaceships? I'm not talking about just corridors, but where a player could have access to an entire ship. Such as living ,medical, engine rooms, command centers, etc. It seems to me there would be a large market for this.

I thought Spartan was doing something like this, no? I swear I saw different sets that were different sections of a space ship.

Also going to be keeping an eye on those 4 armed aliens. Can never have enough models with extra arms.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Totally backed! And left a comment about the Alliance heads. This campaign looks absolutely stellar, get the word out!!

Hard SciFi resin miniatures are hard to come by and the Nexus in particular look amazing for that - love the mix of feral and high tech Nexus in the starter.

Really like these designs. Not grimdark like 40k and not anime like Infinity, rather a nice gritty semi-realism.

Yeah, reading the background and seeing the art of the different aliens factions, it's good to have a new sci-fi wargame that avoids the cliches of the existing games. I see it with a lot of resemblances to the Mass Effect universe, which is a very good thing in my opinion.

It did remind me of Mass Effect as well, which is cool since Mass Effect is super old-school 70s sci-fi

It was the mass effect vibe that got my attention too! I like the infinity miniatures don't get me wrong but there is just something about the Icarus slightly gritty realism that appeals to me! plus those Nexus boys have some cool helmets

This looks very interesting indeed, has anyone downloaded the rules and have any thoughts on how it plays?

I played some games, only Nexus vs Alliance, and I thinks that it is very dynamic. The game mechanics allow us to play very fluid games. Nothing seems overpower or useless, so I thinks its also very balanced, although at first, the Alliance seems more versatile to us (the problem is that we were playing the Nexus in a traditional way, and they have to be played in a more savage way).

My group and I like specially that the bikes are truly an equipment element, so it can be taken for other players during the game, or the dismounted characters are good enough on foot to acomplish inside missions. We played a scenario in which a group of Nexus bikers have to infiltrate an Alliance lab. To doing it, the bikers have to access the building very fast because of the Alliance snipers. Once they were in, stole an artifact from the lab (protected by Alliance troopers), and then escape with the bikes. In that third phase of the games, the Alliance player were allowed to take their own bikes for the Outriders (Scouts) to chase the Nexus force. It was soo fun, because all were really balanced and any of the two players could have won.

Also, Anto said to us that since it's a very narrative wargame, the development team had in mind to implement a campaign system to help the people that likes RPG's and wargames equally.

Just browsing the PDF beta rules. Can someone explain to me how do you get a 1 on a 2d6?

Page 29. Is this a mistake or did I overlook something?

Now I never did a kickstarted before. How do these things work? I read a lot of stories of people who back them never get anything from them. So it's buyer beware. If I order from my credit card and don't get anything, do I just call my credit card company and get my money back?

Also when if I pledge, when does the money come out? Right away when I pledge or when the kick starter is over and they give you notice before taking money out?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Once the project funds, in 20 something days, the funds are withdrawn from your account. At some later date, once production is complete, they mail you your stuff!

I'm less certain about retrieving funds, I'd think that browsing the Robotech tactics thread would teach you all you need to know about getting funds back from a company that does not meet its goals.

Yeah, it's a mistake, in our group, we roll 1d12 and it's fine. Since this is a beta document, I'm sure it will be fixed on the final product, since the developer is very active and communicative with the playtesters group.

I've backed a few KS beforeand had mixed results but always used a credit card so if anything goes wrong I can so a chargeback. Icarus has been Anto's passion for a long time so he responds to queries, rule proposals and even sculpting suggestions so I have no doubt he will deliver. the Kickstarter blog post on Icarusminiatures.com us a good starting point as it runs you through all you need to know.

You should probably edit a Kickstarter link into the top of the original post, jammyjim so people don't have to hunt for it. Doing well so far!

When i get a bit more time later I may try and tidy the beginning of the post up, but I have added a quick line in the original post. 25% give or take in less than 24 hours, so it's running smoothly.

If anyone is fence sitting please have a red of the rules, check the artwork out - the miniatures it will generate are looking pretty awesome!

Small companies can't use kickstarter as a pre-order so they really do need people to help. I'm really enthused by this project (if you couldn't already tell ) so spread the word and i'm sure Anto will be delighted by all those that have backed so far.

Since there is a low cost level that actually gets you stuff, I might actually be able to back this. I just had a very expensive trip to the FLGS that ate quite significantly into my minis fund and I was afraid I'd have to back out of this one. Glad to see I won't have to after all. I did notice though, there's no add-on section.

Add-ons are coming Wednesday I believe.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I hear whispers of a Nexus grunt 3D print in the next week! - This would be a great coup if they can get it out

I was tidying up my copy of Gabriel Cross and thought I might get him in a context shot, especially as Icarus are working on some thematic missions to release during the Kickstarter. The first was possibly a starship/ space station deal so thought I might dust of the old sedition wars and put it to some proper use

It's Add-ons Wednesday! The first wave of Add-ons are up, some excellent deals for quality resin, can you have too much?

Also a scenario with print and play cards is available to download, it's multiplayer so go grab yourself some paper for the printer and get your friends round for a game. I have had smaller games, not one with so many players so it should be fun to try.

The add-on prices are very attractive!

Do you think there will be a printed Nexus to see before the end of the campaign?

If I decide I just want to pledge for add-ons, does the £1 from the base pledge count towards the total, or not?

For example, if I want the 2 Feral Nexus and the Nexus Brawler, would I pledge £19 or £20?

Bournemouth

I believe you need £1 for the pledge then you add your options, so £12 for feral and £7 for brawler making £20 in total. Though I have occasionally been known to be wrong
