Simple question, is there ever a good time to give model a Grav pistol?

For style. Or if it is never going to see play. Grav Pistols are hilariously overpriced.

Sadly, this is the truth. 15ppm is just too expensive.

If you do want to take one, pair it with a power axe. Your total cost is not too out of control, and the concussive nature helps with the unwieldy axe. Both are AP2. You get the extra CC attack.

Totally agree with this, I only use it on one guy in Vanguard Veteran Squad. To reduce the MC I try to charge in I1, while somebody else tank the MC attacks with a storm shield. I would love this combination had the Grav pistol be 10pts a piece

Vanguard with a grav pistol and axe isn't horrible expensive and has a solid chance against MCs or TEQs..

Actually, if you face a lot if MC it doesn't seem bad as a price, but against single wound dudes...

The only real use I can think of is to knock an MC down to initiative 1 before charging them. For example, if you're assaulting a wraithknight, it will give you the opportunity to hit before it.

Same logic should apply to a Imp Knight too right?

No, since vehicles (and super-heavy walkers) cannot suffer wounds, the Concussive special rule has no effect on them.

It will immobilize them, won't it?

I guess I never even thought about the ability to concuss a Wraithknight. I may have to slip a Grav Pistol to my Sanguinary Priest that runs with Dante (to help out the Axe and Fist Sanguinary Guardsmen, Dante doesn't need help). Kinda want to change my Crimson Fists Captain to have a Grav Pistol instead of a Bolt Pistol to go with his Power Fist. Drives his cost up though.

Dual weld on a captain can be fun. Then charge with something else.

1/6th of the time it hits it'll immobilize, and a knight still has an invuln save

True. But I was just trying to remember if the Immobilize was part of the vehicle side of Grav. You answered my question though.

You are all wrong. Grav pistols have been the degree by which a marines wealth and worth is measured. Any marine that has one hanging on their wall is of some import. Any not, are still mewling with the fodder.

TLR. Grav-pistols are fancy paper weights
