To me, the model just doesn't flow together well. It looks like someone glued two Landspeeders together and then reached into their bits box to glue random parts onto it without any thought at all. Parts of don't even make sense like that Marine gunner in that foward turret. It looks so tacked on and impractical. Not to mention that he is super exposed up there in that tiny turret.

There are several things I dislike for personal reasons of aesthetics or my perception of 'realism' (the taurox's idiot side guns for example of impracticality breaching that realism, or Draigo and his idiot 'soul patch' and 'galaxy's most punchable face' for personal choices of aesthetics).

But these really stand out as stinkers for me, not only are they so entirely awful to look at, but they are recent. They come a good deal after the widely panned and disliked obliterators and somehow managed to out-crap them.

Absolutely dire.

I don't have any issue with models in generals. I'm not someone obsessing over boxy/reversed wing flyer I find them amusing and different than the more traditional flyer you would see in another IP. I don't mind "santa Grimnar" and the like. I mean everything is over the top in 40k. You got people fighting with chainsword... So why not a viking on a sled?

This below however is horrible sculpting. It has nothing to do with the design choice or anything. It's just bad and they should feel bad.

Spoiler:

If I have to go with a more recent model I would go with the Mutilator. Like the Sister above, the head is simply the work of legends.

That's an old Eldar Towering Destroyer knight titan, NOT a "wraithknight" - and it's technically an Armorcast (under licence) 40k scaled EPIC figure (6mm scaled up - yes, the 6mm was equally hideous).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

If it was actually fat, then it would probably just be amusing. However, it looks like it's storing its fat in a hump on its back.

Also, that face does not resemble a wolf. I don't know what it is - possibly a daemon of some description - but it's not a wolf. In fact, to me it looks more like an ork wearing a bad mask. Hell, perhaps we're looking at an ork pantomime wolf, with one ork at the back and two at the front having a fight (hence the 'fat' there).

For me:
1) The gunner is inexplicably positionned in that awkward-looking cuppola instead of next to the pilot like on a regular Land Speeder.
2) The engines look like they would snap off the hull and speed off over the horizon on their own if the pilot yanked on the throttle too hard and too fast.
3) It's carrying a piece of a building. I understand that appeals to some, but I just think it looks ridiculous myself.

Even if they did, they'd probably still end up being more expensive.

At least they'd have more options.

Sadly GW has removed a lot of the alternate sergeants as well as their special/heavy weapon models from the range.

1st place: Matrishka marines (Centurians). You took a pudgy model and made it pudgier
2nd: Mutilators. It looks like someone took Lightning claw chaos Termies and smudged them a little then made that into a model
vehicle: Lord of skulls. Arms can only point forward, poor guy.

Dishonourable mention: Great unclean one... For a daemon thats still a sin to the eyes

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa

You don't understand how it looks like my 10 year old niece assembled the model (especially the face) by play-doh and then had it painted by the 'Eavy Metal team?

Well, no? The face looks like that of a nerd girl and a bit goofy (it surely doesn't help that the goggles look like actual eyes with the paintjob), yes. The rest of the model... your niece is really talented!

As to Jain Zar being on this thread... do you have any idea how old that mini is?!? When it and the other phoenix lords came out everyone was blown away. Nothing in as dynamic a pose had been done before her and taking a swipe at the mini now, when it's far older a sculpt than the likely majority of people posting on dakka, is a wee bit unjust.
