I'd settle for my Kickstarter Pat-Wagon ;P
I have to agree that Australia pays more, because we are willing (and sometimes even able) to pay more.
I am totally behind the changes that are slowly happening to make it a bit less disparate.
I do get a little stroppy that I have pay significant percentages more on digital data chunks when buying Steam Games.
In a very on topic aspect my GW based purchases are entirely non- GW Bloodbowl Teams and a Deathwatch themed Marine Army that I use as a Proxie for whatever flavour of 3+ save I feel like.
If prices were a little cheaper I am sure I would have been more tempted to buy more for my army.
If prices were "reasonable" / comparable to US/ UK I would have more than 1 army.

If the USA for instance had our system they would be paying overs for their gear.
Seriously mate learn something about economics. You're telling me I pay more on itunes because people are paid a fair wage in Australia? Show me the Apple Stores massive wage overheads. You're telling me a computer costs 200 -300 dollars more because they have to pay staff $10 more an hour compared with what they pay in the US. I'm sorry, mathematically that doesn't make any sense. Same applies for GW. Their slightly increased wage bill for warehouse/retail staff does not equal the higher prices when you consider the volume of stock GW is moving.
We're a rich, isolated country. Companies see a milking opportunity, they take it. Capitalism.

Not so long ago, I used to sell a lot of GW stuff to the Aussies. Good customers. They would pay me to buy their stuff, I'd get a 20% discount with my local store, and even with shipping, I still made a bit of cash, and the Aussies got their stuff for cheaper. Everybody was a winner.
I feel sorry for people having to jump through hoops just to buy models.

It's that crazy that people sell stuff on eBay for more than what GW are charging and people pay it. I think we're all brain damaged from drinking so much beer.

If it was about the costs of doing business here, the markup would all be in the RRP, not in the wholesale price. The costs of doing business in Australia only affect the cost of taking that wholesale product and selling it, not the cost of making the stuff in the UK.

I was exaggerating a little bit about 'every company'. What I really meant was most of the big companies and companies that have a sort of monopoly on their products and distribution like Apple and GW. They think that people will buy their products anyway, because they're the 'only Apple products' or 'only GW products' and unfortunately they're right in a lot of cases. And so they charge an Australia Tax because they know they can get away with it.
There ![]() issues for businesses trading in Australia. Getting product all the way round the world (especially our main lines, which are books) is very expensive, and there are no real hobby games distributors in Australia (if you fancy starting a business, there is a gap right there!).
However, you still have to be fair about things and I don't have much sympathy for the shipping costs of plastic models (versus hardback books...).
Paint_To_Redemption wrote:I don't even mind paying shipping from guys like you, as long as the price I'm paying for the actual product is reasonable. Must say I've never seen your store before, so I'm now gonna check it out.

The manufacture of the Pat Wagons is taking longer than we had hoped (sorry), but we are getting through them gradually...
