That is the most annoying yet detailed answer. Thanks Jan, I'm going to give it a go

Hahaha, I just meant that I was hoping you'd have some magic instead of pure talent

Thanks for the detail though, I'll definitely try

Ahh lol. Just a bit of experimentation which thankfully worked out. The tamiya just need a layer of varnish over them after drying though as they crack and chip off the plastic easily enough

Not totally happy with the first stained glass window, so making another! Got the cames done - next to add in the colour.
Looking better so far I think

Amazing Jan. Reminds me of the classic banners on Dark Angel backpacks from my childhood and 2nd Edition! :-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Took a painting break tonight but couldn't help but wander back over to the desk and get a little hobby done finally got The Nurse from Thirdman Studios put together. Not the hardest of builds but a little fiddly at points. Minimal flash and only 1 or 2 mound lines to trim. Little gap fill needed. The pipes were a bit of an arse but nothing swearworthy!! Lovely crisp and varied details and a beautiful sculpt overall. Hoping to get her primed next week and then started on next month. She'll be a comp entry this summer - fingers crossed

That's a truly great looking model. I can't wait to see it all painted up.

Second attempt at th stained glass. Liking this one better. Finer detail and a more limited colour range. Think I'll go with this one. Few more highlights and stains and a poster on the base, then I'll fit and fix the stained glass panel in and the base is done!! Larks' skin is done as well - just need to finish he's eyes and add the tatts then it's on to his cloak and combats. Getting there!!

Soz Guildenstern - I did a breaking test on it to see how tough the Tamiya enamels are(were) - it's kinda fethed now!!!
Seeing the photo now - pretty happy with how Lark's skin turned out. Wanted that lined, old haggered look and seems to have come out. Need a little more shadow on thelower part of his hand though. easiuly fixable

lmao!!!!
the Tamiya clear enamels paint onto the clear plastic no worries but GW/acrylic paints dont - they try adn escape and runaway - so dip your brush in some dish soap before mixing up your colour (the liquid stuff for washing the dishes) you dont need much at all but it fixes the paint so it goes on and stays in place perfectly.
As for the cames (the lead lines in stained glass windows) you'll need a steady hand for this as you need to go over them several times to get a solid non transparent black line. I did the cames on the front side of the window and then the colour on the backside - like the way way they used to paint old cartoon gels/frames.
Gloss varnish both sides after to seal in the paint and prevent the enamels from cracking/chipping off. waitr for a few hours thoughas the enamels take a while to dry
That's basically it for the way I came up with to do them. Comes out pretty cool but it is a bit finicky and needs a steady hand and good brush (for the cames. Dont use \you W&N S7 with the enamels, they'll arse it up). Good luck and hope that helps. I may do a proper pic tutorial later after all is said and done.

Another way to do stained glass which I tried to find on my blog to no avail is by finding a design online that you like then sizing it and printing it out on clear acetate then using a black gel pen (used for scrapbooking) trace the lead lines and it leaves a raised satin black line, this is pretty quick to do as well :-)

*don't mean to hijack Jan, just thought i'd offer a different approach.

aye - tried finding acetate sheets over here but to no avail. Shops either didnt stock them or hadn't a brass-eyed scooby what i was talking about )ah the joys of language barriers). the blister pack plastic has a nice thickness and rigidity to it though you need to get around the surface paint adn ink rejection

Oh btw Nerdy - forgot to say; thx again for the method tips a while ago now on the Thanatar mortar lenses. Used it and worked out great. Cheers again

Got a bit done on Larks this morning. His skin and tatts are pretty done and got a start on his trousers. They will not be so bright grey in the end - just highlighted up bright to start and then will be shadowed down a bit with a few final glazes. Trying to get that creeped out jittery feel that Larks always had (well, at least before Gereon!!)
Clipped his pin and dry fitted him into the vignette base (oh that's totally finished now and off the desk so I don't try and do anymore and feth it up!!) - looking good

Cheers Bottle. Was really chuffed when that came out - a single strong of AP strong tone..or dark tone.....whatever the black one is!!
Thx Tom. Not long now.....although

I went looking for the final thing I need for the scene..... a bolt pistol, to sit on top of a torn strip of white cloth. Bolt pistol shouldn't be hard to find in a bitz box right? WRONG. Not a singel bolt pistol in all of my 40k annd hobby stuff. Boxed sets, blisters...whatever......no damnable bolt pistol........ 아이씨발개새끼!! I'm raging now :(

Here's where we are with Larks. Excuse the horribly overexposed photo. The green in the camo cloak is way way more subtle irl. Just need to put a final glaze or two onto his cloak to deepen the shadows and he's pretty much ready to go. Love halfday Wednesdays. Get so much done

That's very kind Az but the postage just for a tiny piece doesn't seem right. Thank you very much though. I'm gonna try and sculpt/build one and see how it goes
