Full suit of armor protecting the less important parts, no helmet. Man I love sci-fi writers.

This is precisely why every one of my troops who wears full armor gets a helmet. Sadly, though, I do have to make exceptions, such as Primarchs.

The movement seems off, I think that's what is bugging me. I'm going to buy him don't get me wrong, but I can't help that something feels off.

I almost wish he was pushing off instead of landing, and shooting both pistols at the target. Kind of matrix bullet time type thing.

Or if they wanted to show his awesome HoW landing, have him landing hard in the center with guys on both sides sent flying.

I bet italian mobsters couldn't afford to pay the full price for this model after the Russians screwed their oil trade with ISIS.

Is he at least smart enough to take his helmet with him, and hang his helmet on his belt when he's not actively wearing it?

My SM Sergeants are at least that smart...

I'm in the same boat. I hate painting skin anyway, so non-helmet appeals to the logic in me and the painter in me.

Would it even matter? Doesn't 'Look out sir!' make even precision shots or strikes against things like sergeants or characters a general waste of time? I mean seriously old redshirt dip **** is generally the one to bite it. I'd prefer to give my special weapons dudes helmets though. They tend to get no 'LoS'.

I don't think helmets would really matter to anyone with a Iron Halo or other similar force field projector.

Then why wear any armor? That's the point, why armor the body but not the most important part. It has absolutely no logic. Helmets are the first thing you wear for protection, not the last. If he had a helmet on but no body armor, that would at least make sense(and it's how the real world works).

It's for the rule of cool, but that is subjective. I think it looks stupid. Which is why a number of people would prefer they at least gave you 2 head options, like some of the other character series. Then people who like flowing hair can have it. It really sucks for Vulkan as an example, since his helmet could have been epic.

Just my opinion of course!

Look at any fully enclosing helmet; it restricts the wearers field of view, even if it enhances viewing modes or other senses. Like real tanks, I imagine being a walking tank has the similar quality where survivability has a direct relationship to situational awareness. Where marine sergeants and commanders forgo helmets for the sake of situational awareness to improve their units survivability even if it means risking their own. Further, consider how rarely Marine Sergeants die first when all their subordinates are seemingly willing to throw themselves in the way by means of "look out sir!"; who needs a helmet when you've got friends like that.

I thought I read somewhere that space marine helmets are so advanced that the wearer isn't impaired at all. They have full field of vision, smell, and sound, with the added tactical information displays.

If we could get this thread back on topic, please?

Feel free to start a separate thread about Space Marines, their Helmets, and when they should and/or should not wear them.

Thanks!

Raven Guard dark fury assault squad previewed today:

And FFS, what were you thinking FW? This is horrible. The proportions are completely off (broad shoulders and too short), the jump pack is just awful, and the pose is not impressing me. I'd had really high hopes for these after seeing the sniper squad, but wow. Maybe it will be possible to salvage some of the pieces and use them for conversions at least...

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I like it! I do agree that he is a little short but some green stuff at the waist and some leg spacers will take care of that.

He does look very chunky, but I think the akward pose is much due to the way it's put together.

Ouch ... that looks like the worst special unit since the World Eaters Terminators ... the winged jump pack is way too big for a power armor marine ...
