I just got the news that my new Cuda shipped today. Guess I'll build any paint it alongside the old style one I recently picked up from other places.

I went through the same thought process back when Perturabo was released without the Iron Circle. I don't think too much of a fuss was made about that at the time.

I went through the same thought process back when Perturabo was released without the Iron Circle. I don't think too much of a fuss was made about that at the time.

To be fair though, the Iron Circle are a recent invention for a Primarch that didn't have much of a profile prior to the modern HH series turned him into one of the most interesting ones. Russ has had a following for a long-ass time and I'm sure his wolves have been part of his background almost as long as he's existed, so there's more investment in seeing them as a group.

Plus, if they'd released Perty with a full Iron Circle from the novels he would have cost like £500

No shame in getting beat by Angron in single combat. Would probably happen to most of the primarchs.

Him being a raving hypocrite seems like a far more disagreeable trait of Russ.

i've never seen Russ as any kind of hypocrite, let alone a raving one, so it's not an issue...
i do look forward to giving him a badass pair of wolves, though

MIgsula has been a huge inspiration with his recent Space Wolves project...
it will be fun to steal some of his ideas...

I've been waiting on that dang book since it was hinted at last year. I'm getting sick of waiting. I have two FW models that will be getting rules updates and I'm hoping they give the dumb nexus missile system different stat line or something since its so bad for titan scale weaponry.

I was hoping it would have been out in time to take advantage of that lower free shipping period but that was not the case. :(

I still think the head looks like Bobby Jindal with a beard. The rest looks decent enough, the Standard is a gorgeous Roman-styled piece of work and I'd like it just for that.

the picture is distorted so I am holding back final judgement, but really aside from the Primarchs the HH charcter series has suffered severely. The Knights Errant were solid, but nothing special. I wish the sculptor that did Dynat from the AL would do more ...

Really? Cause I think most of them look pretty good, sure one or two need Helmets but for the most part they have been good. This new one, not so much.

The character series has been great to me! Outside of the daemon dude for the Alpha Legion, everyone just needs helmets because I hate painting flesh.

My issue with Russ... Some primarchs are sculpted like they're leading from the rear, other primarchs are sculpted like they're just running around on their own killing anything within arms length, others are dueling... It is the quality of the sculpts that you can read so much off the pose... Russ, he is obviously sculpted as if he were flanked by something running with him... whether those models are Vilka Fenrica or his two wolves, the absence makes the model look lonely and compositionally incomplete. If FW has a mission it is to elevate the artistic merits of their sculpts in this way rather than just placing certain models on taller pedestals. Even though it is purely to meet a price point they should be selling those wolves at the same time.

Do not get me wrong ... I love the character series and it was a pleasure to paint Sigismund, Kharn, Eidolon etc. But comparing them with the Knights Errant and this Ultramarine ... they are a letdown. I miss the sculptor who left the company ...
