Im sure this has been answered a thousand other times but i have to ask (really because i dont want to sift through a million threads)

Is it legal to play slaanesh units in AoS. or would i have to find somebody willing to play fantasy.

thinking of starting a chaos undivided army (along with ten other armies)

thanks

100% legal. All the warscrolls for slaanesh models are contained in the daemons of chaos warscrolls compendium. They even have a slaanesh specific formation. Not sure why you thought they would be gone when all the other models are still playable in AOS?

Even the fluff that references Slaanesh being MIA refer to his followers looking for him & trying to hunt down Malerion.

Sorry i saw all these other threads about how slaanesh is gone from AoS i thought that you just just couldn't play them anymore.

Sure GW is still selling slaanesh models but i thought that they were just clearing out excess inventory.

Plus i have been too cheap to buy the free warscrolls. so i am completely ignorant

thanks a million

What's left of Cadia

Slaneesh is perfectly legal in AOS, all the scrolls are there and it's mentioned that he/she/it's followers are still active and searching

Heh, heh, "excess" inventory. Slaanesh miniatures. Excess. Heh! Good pun!

But yeah, Slaanesh is not dead, just missing, and his followers are having a hard time and are very active to find him, so it's perfectly nice to have a warband devoted to him as it gives your army even more flavour, especially if you come up with background for it!

Yes you can play slaanesh. And by the way deamonettes are the best demon troops in the game!

I played two AoS League games at my local GW with an all Slaanesh army. I won both games by a decent margin, and my Daemonettes were the all stars. They tore through 3 Bloodcrushers and a Daemon Prince by turn 3. I was so proud

I'm absolutely loving my Slaanesh army, and I didn't even buy them until I heard the new fluff. I like the mystery, and that I can make up a more rich background for my war band other than "Derp were a very provocative bunch of fellows here, derp!"

Now that I have a great base for a 100 wound pure Slaanesh army, I'll probably wait to buy more Slaanesh specific models until I see where they go with the story.

Anyway OP, if you want to play Slaanesh, go for it! Some incredibly swift units, hard hitting infantry, and a very interesting named character (Keeper of Secrets). Best of luck, and if you have any specific questions about playing a Slaanesh army you don't want to post just PM me and I'll be happy to help!

It seems I shall post this again.

I think slaanesh is getting an overhaul, I stand by the theory that Morathi is taking slaanesh's place. Still it seems that the followers of slaanesh are invading Malerion aka Malekith realm looking for slaanesh.

Found this on the eternal crusade forum when people were talking about the whole slaanesh fiasco.

SETTLE DOWN. Slaanesh is still around... just, no one knows where...

It's almost like... like... a STORYLINE!!? [IMG]

Next person to claim that the sky is falling gets their favourite HH character killed. I'm super serious. Even Horus.
Plus on the heresy online lore summary topic there is this section here.

In the Shadowlands of Ulgu the mists rose up around the armies of Khorne that had taken the realm for their own. When they disappated all that remained of some of the Blood God's most fierce warriors was shredded carrion. Yet this did not discourage those that came next, for the followers of Khorne scorned anything that would skulk int he fogs, and nor were they alone. Slaanesh, the Missing God, had been lost for centuries since before the Age of Chaos began, yet now there were signs of his presence in the Realm of Shadows. His followers, ever-loyal, marched in force upon the Shadowlands, intent on finding the being known as Malerion and rescuing their lost lord.

Yeah I think they are using this chance to redefine slaanesh and I am still calling it now Morathi is going to be the new slaanesh. Still I think its going to be interesting if they are making this a pretty big story line if this happens slaanesh might finally be getting the love and attention that she/he really needed.

I think GW are waiting for Aelf update to create new slaanesh models since to me all this info shows its going to be a plot point like sigmar looking for his hammer. As many here said I think it adds more flavor to slaanesh armies. After finishing my vampire count army(just need a hero or a unit) going to start a proper slaanesh army. I am going with the angle they are on a pilgrimage looking for their lost goddess.

Regardless of the storyline, you play whatever you want in your GW collection. Since there are warscrolls for the actual Slaaneshi models, you have your answer.

It's just better to have an agreement with your opponent.

The current Blood Angels Codex for Warhammer 40k has two versions of a character who is dead in the fluff. The first version of Captain Tycho is earlyish in his career. The second is shortly before his death as a member of the Death Company.

In other words, GW doesn't even seem to care whether models still exist in the fluff.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm looking forward to the new releases/remodels of the Slaneesh forces. It works out great for my narrative, which I believe is very similar to yours. Once the new models get released it will only further my own story that the surviving members of my war band will fight alongside the new models, whoever/whatever they are.

If the sky does fall and Slaanesh gets the axe 100% from the way we know Her/Him now, I don't think I'll be too upset. The whole game is evolving, and I need to try and evolve with it. Like I said, I didn't buy these models until I already knew the Sigmar story line for Slaanesh anyway (What little we DO know), so I think I can curb the butthurt more easily

Indeed I do feel that slaanesh is not getting the axe I just feel that slaanesh is finally being used in the plot considering the info we have and now slaanesh is becoming relevant instead of just being "there" so to speak. Plus I am somewhat tired of nurgle and khorne where is tzeentch and slaanesh! Come on GW!

We gotta wait for the Aelf update to know for sure.

Now that I'm thinking about it... The names of the Slaanesh models kind of make sense, some of them anyway. "Seekers of Slaanesh"... Hmmm... I wonder if this was something planned for a long time... Just a random though

I don't know it kind of seems like a a bit forward thinking for GW.maybe they came up with using the KoS name a year or so ago. I really doubt they thought of making an easter egg that far in the past. and as far as i know KoS have been around for awhile.

But if your right that'll be awesome

Daemonettes are pictured in one of the campaign books, so I don't think the daemons will get redesigned, but maybe some new models/units.
