When they get around to slanesh it is going to be trapped in another dimension, with only squats to keep it company.

Sorry, but porn-ey drug using bad guys have a new liberal world foe, the politically correct. Expect your fav herm god to be replaced by plain old in threatening mindless violence god. Probably of the skaven variety.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

nope, skaven units still exist and will get new models just like all the chaos gods, they will simply be more angry as they are peeped at having their god missing... or locked up etc...

Slannesh may have a slight chance of being toned down but completely replaced is doubtful though i do remember reading a interesting theory of new deamon/aelf alliance with slannesh so we might get warp mutated elf units witch would be awesome with slannesh's usual touch of why boner

But that is just a passing theory made by another member so nothing concrete, yet still p ossible

I think the Slaanesh stuff is a long way off and will probably be wrapped into an Aelf campaign book somewhere down the line.

Until then it's all blood red blood blood axe blood war badguy blooddrinker skull. Because the kids can wrap their heads around that one!

Yeah I don't see any slaanesh updates happening until the Aelf campaign since its noted that the followers of slaanesh are messing around in the realm of shadow looking for their lost lord.

Hah! Nice shade

But you are probably correct, and it's such a pity. Slaanesh is missed.

I would love for them to, but for the foreseeable future it seems like an all-Khorne show.

I don't get the impression GW is as eager to get rid of Slannesh as many have suspected, but I do expect there to be some fluff changes, with little to no model changes. Outside of the Stormcast and Khorne forces, what we see happening with other armies is a re-purposing of the existing armies to fit completely different fluff. (ie: skaven and nurgle forces played as one, Dryads are their own army, etc)

So, we might see a scenario where Slannesh remains imprisoned and controlled by the Dark Elves in some fashion, leading to Slannesh forces being forced to serve in elvish armies, while retaining the same model kits currently in production.

For my dollar, we'll always need Slannesh, or the Eldar fluff from Warhammer 40k gets wobbly. But, I personally wouldn't mind them focusing more on that angle - Slannesh is essentially an Eldar/Elf Chaos god, something that represents their dark side. As such, focusing on the elven origin as much or more than the sex and drugs and rock-and-roll angle would be fun. Failing that, they'd also make me happy by doubling down on the sex and drugs and rock-and-roll, and releasing a new Doomrider for 40k while they were at it...

On the perfumed wind

I think it will eventually come. The missing Elves & Slaanesh hook is pretty big and obvious and is begging for a campaign supplement. How that plays out is kind of up in the air. But Slaanesh exists in 40K, and given the easy cross-over, I don't see them continuing it in one universe but not in the other.

So either 40K can get ready to say goodbye to Slaanesh, or Fantasy can expect him/her/it to return. My money's on the latter. But I've been way off a time or two of late.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
