Pretty much the title, as the idea that you create your character literally any way you want is facinating, and I would like to know some games other than deus ex that revolve around this concept.

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but Spore is a game where you go through stages of evolution and technology, and you literally can make a character with arms for legs or a dolphin with wings for eyes or whatever else your sick mind can imagine. Problem is, it's an EA game, so expect tons of DLCs, but the base game is still pretty fun

Are we talking singleplayer or multiplayer here? Most MMOs don't have any restrications to what you can make your PC as.

Do you mean fantasy, contemporary or futuristic games?

Can be either, but I hope that instead of creating the character any way I want, I prefer changing my character as time passes with cybergenetics.

I can't really think of one. Maybe Dex? It's like a 2d less good version of HR. This actually kind of surprises me because it's kind of a neat concept and it should be explored in games. HR doesn't even explore it all that well.

System Shock 2 may fit the bill but its ancient. Without a gfx mod pack it'll be clunky.

Bioshock fits better, but isn't futuristic.

Gathering the Informations.

The most recent Syndicate was a good example of this; and can usually be found cheap.

Oh I forgot about that. You also have the old syndicate games and Satellite Reign is the new successor game to the old ones.

Not many games fit the bill of what you're looking for. Cyberpunk just hasn't caught on in the way Fantasy has.

For a somewhat-similar effect, though, check out the first 2 Armored Core games. It's more "build-a-Mecha" than "build-a-'borg" but the end is much the same.

Why on earth the first 2? Those are playstation 1 games and dated as all hell. Besides, they weren't even the best in the series.

The Shadowrun series is an excellent series that includes augmentation as a major plot point.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Invisible inc. Although far less than Deus Ex, Shadowrun or System Shock. You have two or three slots to fit various augmentation benefits.

I've got Satellite Reign on my wish list. It's basically Syndicate clone, however I don't know what sort of toys you can play with. "Remember me" is an average sci - fi fighting game, I enjoyed the graphics, characters and the story. Combat itself felt a bit wonky and a large drawback, maybe it would be better with a controller. Dex might also be something to look at.

... and System Shock is even older (released: 1994).

Main point being? AC3 and 4 ate bags of hot dicks. haven't touched 5.

Once you get past the gak/garbage-tier UI it's a pretty decent cyberpunk game with a ton of depth.

The game is madness though. Just... bug-nuts insane. It's insanely fun in MP, solo is less so, but it's the most-cyberpunk of cyberpunk games.

Satellite Reign just came out. It's essentially old syndicate remade, properly.

The indy game Iji might interest you as well.

http://www.remar.se/daniel/iji.php

It's free to play, with a good focus on augments, though its greater focus is on the necessity of violence.

And, seriously, the dev thought of everything. It's a game with so much hidden content that multiple playthroughs often result in drastically different stories, even though the game is linear.

Do the Shadowrun games have a bit of an emphasis on this?

Yeah. In order to be a decker or a rigger, you need to have a certain augmentation.
On the flipside, your magic gets worse the more augments you have.
