TP^DC - Love the diorama. The machines are rising, but humanity is not sitting idly by watching.
VorpalBunny - How can you not love a giant Khorne dinosaur?
Winter, Januine - I know I should just pick the better Magos and vote for that one, but I can’t. You both did a spectacular job!
Winterhound - Giant tanks=love. Really digging the subtle paintjob and weathering.
Okay, I haven't entered into this one, so I've kept a close eye on all the entries. I voted for:
Kustomer D; That one is just beautiful. It's clean and crisp, but surprisingly Orky. Nice!
Priest Foxley; That conversion... Wow. It's perfect. I love the paintjob, the legs... Everything.
sockwithaticket; I first thought it was ridiculous to enter 3 teeny tiny skulls. Boy, was I wrong! The soft highlights are beautiful, and the lenses melt my heart.
Arclaw; Wow. The lenses are nice, the bases marvellous, and the armour. Man, I want to paint like that.
Zoat; I've seen many IG tanks go wrong with too much weathering. This is not one of them. The tank looks surprisingly realistic, with bost rust and chipping. Good job!
Winter; This might just be my favorite. From the white cloak, the mud, the vials... I think it's an excellent showcase of your painting skill. You you have some sort of plog or showcase thread?
Midget Gems; I love the orkiness. Is it scratchbuilt? I don't even care, It looks right, as if a Mek made this with love and puke. Mostly love.
Lots of great entries this month, but as usual I limited myself to five votes only. I voted for:
Inspector #264: I love that someone found a way to put Maximilian in 40k!
Kustomer D: Yet another great-looking Ork model from you. So cool!
Winter: That Tech-priest is done so well, I almost expect him to come to life!
Winterhound: Loving that tank. Anyone who can finish a model like that in less than a month deserves a lot of respect, especially if they do such a good job.
Januine: Your Tech-priest is probably as good as the other one, and you did that, a Castellax, and a small diorama for them, in basically two weeks. I wish I could do that!
Honorable mention to TP^DC Deputy Manager for his awesome diorama, and VorpalBunny74 for his DinoBot. They were both extremely cool and just missed out on a vote (almost went with seven votes!).
Of course, as always, thanks Paradigm for running this contest, and good luck at school!
My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):

Well that was a tough choice! Such a high calibre of entries, it wasn't easy to pick a top 5, so I may have gone slightly over .

Many thanks for the vote, considering the amount of talent on display here, I really do appreciate it.
I limited myself to 5 votes, I don't really have a favourite, but holy hell those servo skulls are amazing
Ninjaedit: Great work all around though, from BCs aquilla to winter's literally spooky adept to winterhounds stormlord to arclaws super cute whatever the hell they are, I want to vote for all of you, there literally wasn't one thing I didn't like here

I do not have a plog or showcase thread on Dakka, well not a recent one anyway. I should probably get around to uploading one, but if you track through my post history you will find stuff I have submitted before.

You know that expression about having nothing nice to say?
Do you need a refresher?
Regardless of how far folks got, they all put the time and effort in. I say this as one of the people who didn't manage to finish. I feel crap about it in comparison to the folks who did astounding work.
If anyone gets to give us a hard time, it's the folk who actually took part and completed theirs. But they wouldn't, because they're stand up people who understand life doesn't play fair.

Bravo! As someone who has a lot of real life that has to take precedence, anyone who puts a drop of paint on a model deserves a round of applause. And to those who didn't finish, as long as you didn't get too far along try entering it again for an appropriate competition. I think Para's rough word on this is anything past priming is probably a bit too much. That why Bob made an appearance this month after I failed to finish a few months back.

Because its a monthly challenge. Taking into account idea prep, purchase (if needed), assembly, painting, tweaking and then uploading to dakka added to the vagaries of real life needs and time, not everyone gets to finish on time.
Again hence the word challenge.
Did you enter the egg and sppon race as a kid and win everytime? No, then why bother?
Point being, its the fun of taking part, setting yourself a goal to achieve and ultimately sharing your work - finished or not that drives people

and my vote goes to all you donkey-caves, actually. I literally haven't felt this good about myself in years. I was a bit unconvinced when doc told me to try modelling, but it worked out way better than expected, and I've gotten nothing but positive comments from all of you.
Seriously, guys, thank you. I'd buy you all a beer if I could. I am stupid proud of myself for this.
in fact........
How about a prize? I hit a jackpot on a bunch of GW models today, and it was a all or nothing. I've got a few old school, individual GW models that I would love to send to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

This, right here, is why I run these challenges! Points and places be dammed, anyone who walks away this pleased, motivated and proud is a winner!
As the organiser, I'm not going to say 'yes, there will be prizes', but I'm sure if you PM the winners once the poll is done and they're announced, they're not going to say no to free minis!

Away with you Lijah Cuu Folk put a hell of a lot of time, effort and thought in to their entries but I'm quite sure you'll blow us all away with your Golden Demon quality entry next month eh. Exalts to tthe rest of you. Nothing for you Lijah
I think we should go back to discussing the painting. The painting is good.
I've actually been wondering about doing a little set of embroidered dice bags for the year's overall champs (and maybe have folk pick their favourite piece of the year and gove that an award), but that runs on the assumption that:
A) People would trust me with their address
II) TP^DC or Para do the league table all year which is a little unfair of me to bank on.
You can click on my gallery section to see the kind of things I pit on dice bags currently... It's not groundbreaking but it's fun.
Yeah, I think a prize is good, but it can't really be something that equates to monetary value - there is a lot that can go wrong with that. A hand-made item like you've suggested BC is great, as is something fluff driven.
I am willing to name a unit in any army I have (SM, CSM, IK, Tyranids - don't make my write dialog for a nid, I beg of you) and write a story about them for you. Oh wow, I just remembered I've got my mates warlord titan to paint, I can probably convince him to let me name it, then I will do the above for that.

I'm happy to keep doing the league table. I'm currently doing two months at a time due to RL stuff, but I'm content plugging away.
Dice Bags sound cool. Other option (or as well) is to borrow from the League of Extraordinary riveters and grant winners the right to have a banner under there name. You could even have a "kill tally" ie how many 1st places???? That's free then

LOVING the dice bags!!! Legendary stuff. Let's get this voting overwith mainly, but shall we have a overall view from everyone about whether they want to go ahead with the annual prize and signature banner? We'd need to agree on whether winner is determined by number of challenge wins/total votes for the year etc., but why don't we see if the group like the idea first.
