Honestly I dont want to do Imperial Faction of the Edition as my next army.
What do you guys reccommend that isnt Eldar or Necrons?

Well Orks do look fun, but given what I've heard of their codex...

Probably just collecting.

Green tide formation can be brutal. It's not Orks are completely worthless in 7ed. It is just that they are very hamstrung in what choices they can take. That said, your goal should always to pick an army you'll enjoy.

Well, I think Tau might be good, considering their coming new stuff.

But always Farsight.

Never without.

You should collect Tau then, but wait until the new Codex drops to see if you like the changes.

Considering every codex released in 2015 has ranged from Good to OMG OP!, I think collecting Tau would be safe no matter what.

What ever you do don't collect CSM. You'll thank yourself in 10 years when they're still the bastardized army that never got a real rework

Don't worry, one day GW will retcon all CSM victories, meaning that CSM were always supposed to be this terrible

CSM, if the fluff is to be believed we have done so much yet achieved so little - perhaps my army is a damning reflection of my life?

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

No imperial, necron or eldar, that narrows it considerably.
What do you currently play and what are you looking for?
If you already play a competitive army and want a change then the only thing that matters is aesthetics, what do you like the look of?
If you want another competitive army, wait until after the tau codex drops, sounds like that might be your bag anyway.
If you want a challenge, then orks, csm and Dark Eldar would probably suit.

Orks, codex isn't half as bad as people say anyway, you'll probably have lots of very close losses with them if you just run at the enemy

Dark Eldar if you just wan't to look cool, probably the most unusual army to see on tables as well

Why is it that any time I think of a negative response in this sort of context, it's always due to past experiences with Ultramarine players?

Well, here goes my response...

I know people who would seriously deride anyone for choosing the "cockney" faction. I never knew it was possible to hate Orks, until I found these guys. But, some people do.
